this is amazing. just adding some cells randomly results in something that actually sounds pretty musical and alive.

I would like to note two things: first fuck Jobs and his lack of flash on this IPad; second, fuck android for not having a viable competitor to the app store.
Cells have states. The board containing the cells goes through iterations. In each iteration, the states of each of the cells on the board are affected by the states of the cells around them depending on some rules determined by the creator of the automaton. With some rule sets the evolution of the board can produce some really interesting effects - see Conway's Game of Life.So can someone explain the cellular automation theory better and quicker than wikipedia?
