Was this the scene from The Rock? that was a Lamborghini though.

I would think the government would be responsible for private vehicles in their care. The car wasn't even impounded for an owner's crime. That law seems bogus and a conflict of interest. The government giving itself immunity.

Ah the F50, seeing that car takes me back to my days of playing Need 4 Speed 2 for hours on end.

Screw that judge and the agent who crashed it.
 
If the car isn't in police custody (agent/prosecutor took it for a joy ride) then would the car have not only not have been in place custody but the agent/prosecutor should be brought up on grand theft auto?

In The Rock the car was a Ferrari...the guy even says a somewhat famous quote "Hey man you just fucked up your Ferrari..." Nicholas Cage responds, "It wasn't mine.."

- Car was stolen
- Insurance co paid out for it
- Car was recovered
- Insurance co now wants the car since they paid for it
- FBI wrecks it
- Insurance co sues FBI

So the owner is probably long since over this, & is on to an Enzo or wherever one goes from an F50.

Well the F50 is a collector item at this point since they aren't produced anymore. It's going to cost him a decent amount to get one and depending on how much he was insured for he probably may have to come out of pocket somewhat.

Unless there is a law that forbids it. There are plenty of laws that prevent lawsuits against government actors.

And there probably was negative consequences for the agent and maybe the federal prosecutor.

UTTER BS..... just like SWAT and other teams that accidentally bust down the wrong door don't have to reimburse the homeowner..... or if they tear up your house "looking for teh evil drugs" there is nothing to be done for the homeowner, regardless of the results of the search.

That doesn't make it right. Law should be based of truth, not what's convenient for the ruling class. That's tyranny.

Personally, I'm fine with absolving the government/corporations of responsibility. Every individual is responsible for their own actions. It needs to be treated equally though. No one gets a free ride.
 
If you're blowing 3 qtrs of a million dollars on just your car, the government isn't the only one "taking you for a ride".

it's an F50. it's not exactly losing a lot of value (unless you wreck it).

hell of a lot better investment than buying a $750,000 house.
 
OK, so how do you lose control if you aren't driving it recklessly. So since they were driving it recklessly it hardly seems that they were doing it on official business (this car is supposed to be evidence after all), so go get those bozos fired for destroying evidence and for destroying a perfectly nice car!
