FedEx will be a bit more expensive probably, but at least they won't play foot hockey with your boxes like UPS.

And yes, FedEx is open today.

Another question --- I have the LCD monitors in their manufactuer's boxes.

Can I just tape them up really well and then slap a shipping label on them, and mail them out via fedex?

thx guys!!

I would either put it in another box, or at VERY LEAST wrap it in a brown paper bag

Well, Dell shipped my monitor when I got it in the Samsung box with a shipping label. UPS then proceeded to LEAVE IT ON MY FRONT PORCH IN THE SNOW AND COLD WITHOUT ASKING FOR A SIGNATURE OR ANYTHING.

So I would ABSOLUTELY wrap it in brown paper and send it FEDEX but make SURE you require a sig when they get it. It may cost a little more now but it's better than ending up with UPS chimps doing god knows what with your monitors.

He should be ok if he goes with Fedex. Go UPS and your monitors don't stand a chance.

Stay as far away from UPS as a shipper as you possibly can. Fedex is safer, they care about your package and its condition and are reliable t oa fault. I am in a law suit with UPS because they are just the oppisite and also committed a fraud against the court that I am going to shove up thier anal orifice.

Sorry,I despise UPS. They aren't for sh!t.:|

Ok Tripple Shot, don't be so ignorant. FedEx employees "care about your package and its condition"? Man, that is the dumbest thing I've heard all day. What, you think FedEx employees cushion each package with pillows? HAHAHAHA that is laughable. Believe it or not, FedEx and UPS package handlers are there to move packages quickly.

Quick question, does anyone know which shipper Dell Computer uses? That's right, UPS! I hear Dell ships out a lot of computer monitors daily too...

Also Triple Shot, I'll be laughing when you lose your lawsuit against UPS. Maybe next time you should package your goods decently. Paying the extra 70 cents for insurance doesn't give you the right to be careless.

That's ok, UPS has plenty of customers. UPS doesn't need punks like you with your BS lawsuits and horrible horrible spelling. By the way, did you know that UPS is the largest package-delivery company in the US and continues to gain market share from FedEx?

Aaaaaaaanyway, Croton, I recommend you ship the monitors via UPS Ground. The reason being that I'm pretty sure you have to be a business customer with a FedEx acct # in order to ship through FedEx Ground. So that means you'll probably have to ship via FedEx Express Saver, which costs more than UPS Ground. FedEx Express Saver is guaranteed 3 Day delivery though, so it'll probably get there faster depending on how far you have to ship.

Also, I'd like to point out to everyone here that for every FedEx service, there is a UPS equivalent (except Sunday delivery).

Finally, UPS and only UPS has guaranteed Ground delivery.

If you were shipping those LCD monitors to me, and you used UPS, i would hunt you down like a dog. If you went to Indochina, i'd be sitting there in a bowl of rice waiting to put a cap in yo' ass.

Ship it FedEx, or you'll be sorry.

I think no matter which shipper you use, there will always be a chance for things to go wrong. I think people have the most problems with UPS because they are used the most. The first problem I had was a laptop was stolen during shipment. Luckily the store shipped me a new one and handled the claim. My most recent bad experience is that two of my boxes came totally destroyed. One box had my computer double boxed in it. My packing was very good. The computer case did not have a single scratch or crack even though the outside box was destroyed. Problem is that the damage to the outside box was probably dued to a lot of dropping and rolling. I would assume that this was not due to normal package handling by people since the damage was so extensive. Must have been moving around in the truck and fallen. Anyways whatever generated the force caused the heatsink to pop off and the hard drive cage to become deformed. The CDRW drive looked fine externally and it was not until I pieced everything together that I realized it was broken. I decided to not deal with filing a claim even though I had insurance because my chances with them were probably pretty slim. I took the CDRW apart and glued the plastic parts inside the laser carrier that was broken and it seems to work. Not sure if the hard drive sustained any damage since it appears to work, but I bet the heads must have bounced around from the extreme force.

Whichever courier you choose to use, I would NOT recommend wrapping something in brown paper and slapping the address on that. At the very least, double box those monitors for (a) concealment and (b) extra protection. Yes, anybody can damage them if they put their minds to it but it doesn't take much to rip your brown paper wrapping and make your package addressless and untraceable.

Box it or lose it. :D

PowerMac4Ever,

Looks like you got here ahead of me with an injection of reality. Not sure what all the whining is about. I ship and receive hundreds of packages a year through UPS and have never had a single one lost or destroyed. Matter of fact, one of the items I got in today is a 17" LCD - in perfect condition. Maybe you people need to learn how to correctly pack your merchandize.

murphy55d,

I hate to tell you this, slick, but that is the SHIPPER'S fault, not UPS's. It is up to the vendor to use signature required.

Oh, and Tripleshot, I'm sure UPS is just shaking in their boots.

I don't know, but I'd go with UPS for package security. I ordered some Klipsch Promedia 5.1's and they got here today after a note was left on the door by Fed EX Friday that no one way home and they need a sig. So I signed the slip and put for the "secure place to leave packages box" the garage. It is quite obvious where the garage is and the door is always unlocked. I figured they will have no problem. But, I come home today and here are my precious $400 speakers in thier big box in plain sight of everyone that drove by. It wouldn't take three minutes to pull into the driveway while everyone is at work and just lift them. No one would have known who did it. I was quite upset to say the least and glad that didn't happen.

Anyway, there's my rant, I'm off towards bed now.:)
