Here is a little experiment you can try:

Print some little cards with your name and a P.O. box, or Paypal email address, where they can reimburse the money that you give to them, when they are begging for food, ran out of gas, et. al. You just say something like, when you get where you are going, or whenever you can afford it, just send the money here.

Not a single fuck will be given to ever pay you back by 99% of those to whom you have given money or helped out. But don't take my word for it, prove it to yourself.
