It's a take off on "The Ring", of which the remake comes out later this year.

Have you seen it? Why do you say it sucks?

Here's the tagline for the movie: "Want to see a really killer website? It's the last site you'll ever see."

That sounds like a really good movie.

I think it's stupid because, if I saw it correctly, the URL that is used in the movie is www.feardotcom.com.

A: Hey, what's the url for that fear site?
B: Feardotcom.
A: Okay. /typing www.fear.com /end Hey, this can't be it. It's some sort of phobia site or something.
B: What did you type?
A: I typed www.fear.com.
B: No, dummy. The url is www.feardotcom.com
A: So, feardotcom.com? That's stupid.
B: Yeah, I know.

When my roommate and I were talking about the movie the other day, I was saying it would have been really funny if the url of that site was www.feardotcom.org or .net or something. ;)

It's rated 7.2 on IMDB, which says quite a bit. They are usually dead on.

When reading the plot summary of Fear.com it seems that this is just another one of those flawed murders-through-internet-thriller-movies but fortunately, this one gets it right.

Not that the story is that fantastic, but the movie keeps one interested until the end to find out what this murders are all about.

Cinematography and lighting are well above Hollywood average, the movie sometimes really surprises one with its greats shots and well done effects. In addition the end-sequence offers one of the most beautiful artistic visual effects scenes for a long time, even if the ending comes to quick and leaves many questions open.

Dorff and McElhone, taking the lead of this movie, deliver nothing spectacular, but just the right performance for this kind of movie. Jeffrey Combs only appears a few times but it's always a pleasure to see him in a movie.

Being an experienced computer and internet user I usually don't agree how movies handle pc's and cyperspace because they generally do this in a ridiculous way. Fear.com however finds the right way to believable (although not realistic) add the internet into the movie, even if it doesn't come anything near Avalon's way of making a movie around computers.

I didn't see the final cut and therefore I don't know what will be changed until its official release, the movie makes a perfectly finished impression and maybe could make it into the topten of the US boxoffice... maybe even topfive if the marketing is right.

Although this is a movie you will have forgotten by the end of the day, you certainly won't do anything wrong if you are going to see this movie as long as you like dark and scary thrillers. Expect a well done frightening movie nothing more...

I'm not saying it's the greatest flick in the world, but how can you say something sucks if you don't try it . . . God I sound just like my dad. "Eat your spinach boy, it's good for you."

Thanks for the reviews. I guess this is one movie I'll wait for until it hits the rental scene.

I guess they should have name it: FEAR-DOT-BOMB.

You might want to re-read the thread, wje. There's only one person who's actually SEEN the movie - Omegachi. ;) A friend of mine saw it last night with his wife, and they both liked it. I might catch a matinee today and let y'all know what I think, especially since I have "not taste in movies." At least I don't have "not problems with grammar." :D

"Amanda, since I am a proffesional writer, now, I have to pay particular attention to grammar." ;):p:)

That's probably wrong. :)

Well, since you insist. There's an extra comma in there after "writer" and you spelled "professional" wrong. :p

oh did you see it? because without seeing it, its an awful stupid assumption to say that the movie is lame
are you some shill for the hollywood ? is your cousin in this or something ?

its not an assumption to judge a movie without seeing it if you use other clues to reach a general idea of the quality (or
lack thereof) of the film. do you know anything about the director's previous work ? what about the writer's ? actors ?
no ? if you look into their choice of projects you can gain a strong idea where their talents point to.

did you read any of the professional reviews ? not just one, two, or three, but a whole lot of them ? they're are compilation
sites that horde these reviews and give an aggregate rating for each film. so while its foolish to pin your hopes on the opinion
of any one reviewer, a smart consumer will read through a sampling of reviews to help make a decision.

and then when you combine the above with your own seasoned instincts, intelligence, and other gifts making a ballpark deduction
as to the quality of a film or certain other works of art becomes art in itself.

rottentomatoes - 3% approval (32 out of 33 reviews rotten)

metacrtiic - 11% approval - 8 reviews, none rated higher than 5 (out of 10)

imdb - 5.2 approval out of 10 with 63 reviews counted so far.

ofcourse all this means nothing . . . because i haven't seen it yet

Look at the date on the post, man. I think you're being a little hard on the guy, because at the time he posted that, there weren't many, if any, reviews!
