Here's the tagline for the movie: "Want to see a really killer website? It's the last site you'll ever see."

That sounds like a really good movie.

Look at the date on the post, man. I think you're being a little hard on the guy, because at the time he posted that, there weren't many, if any, reviews!
didn't i address that ? i described how i can make a call on a film without having seen it.

who cares how many reviews there are out now. they only proved my point. if you looked at the producer, writer,
and director, had a peek at their previous work, guessing this would be a major stinker would have been a cinch.

aren't there politics involved in making such lousy films ? how else can they be explained ? i mean films that read poorly on paper, that
take ten thousand rewrites by a small army of writers, so they can be made to push the economic interests of people who want to remain
relevant.

stephen dorff ? that poor guy wants his mug on the radar screen otherwise he'll get lost in the crowd. he'll up doing repertoir in some
podunk without it, one step removed from his future as a shoeshine.

I saw the movie yesterday....I dont' think its a movie worth full admission. It's either matinee/rental.

I'll give a 2.5/10.

It had its moments...you know, the kind where they play the music and you know its gonna be something popping out at you any second.

At least it didn't have a lot of fake typing during scenes with computers. Although I didn't notice anyone using a browser to get onto the feardotcom.com site.

Definitely funny afterwards, when we(me and my computer-savvy friends) talked about all the loopholes and such. So I guess that did make up for the movie. I'll change my rating from 2.5 to 3.5/10.

The lighting pissed me off. There were scenes where there were obvious light sources, but they didn't illuminate the scene. I know it was done for effects, but I couldn't see a damn thing. :D

I can attest to have seeing the burning wreckage of a movie that is feardotcom. To sum it up, imagine taking a whole bunch of scary/suspense movies, cutting random scenes from each one, and then cutting them together and calling it a story line........If you didnt "know" the cliche'ish order of events in a scary movie, you'd just be saying to yourself "what the hell? Where did that come from?" Such as how the "Hero" meets up with the supposedly geeky looking shut-in, female department of health agent, and after spending about 12 minutes together, fall madly in love and cry about the other one when something happens. They try to make it seem like the movie takes place over days and days, but if they didnt outright say "its been 48 hours!!!!!" you'd swear that from one scene to another its a good 5 minutes later, the same exact day. Overall it was a complete waste of 5 dollars, not even worth renting :)

I give it a 1.5/10, and it gets that because there were actually a few instances where they got you to jump, but most of the other times it was like "ok, yup, something is gonna jump out now, or something is gonna blah blah blah" you get the idea :)

Just saw it with the g/f last night. I thought it was really good, actually. :)

It may not be "great", but it isn't half as bad as some of you make it out to be. I'd say 6 or 7/10.

I want to know how the german kid knew he had 48 hours...and how did all those people know to log on to the site at the exact same moment that girl was getting killed?

And if everyone that sees the site dies in 48 hours, how come there are always at least 100 subscribers online?

And how come the cops can't track down the site, because the doctor keeps changing it, but the subscribers seem to have no problems tracking it down every time it moves to a new URL?

And when the nerdy chick was writing on the wall in Binary...wouldn't it have been easier to just write out '48'?

Why did the little girl play by that mill when she was little, that place is scary!!

Heh.. here's an unflattering review if I've ever heard one:
Los Angeles Times / Manohla Dargis:

The story leapfrogs abruptly from scene to scene, and it makes such a mockery of narrative logic and continuity that the cast tends to look either baffled (Dorff) or as if they're trying to remain unrecognized.

Dammit, wish I had read this thread before blowing $14 on this piece of turd. That actress who plays the Dept. of Health chick was pretty good in "Ronin", but damn she just was horrible in this one. Dialogue was excruciating (that scene in the car about "little lobsters", Ronin chick with her boss in his office, etc) and there were just sooooo many loopholes. I kinda liked "House on Haunted Hill", but at least the first hour in that movie was genuinely scary. This time the director thought he could get by with spooky music and disturbing images straight off of Marilyn Manson videos. Aaaargh, I want those 2 hours of my life back!!!!!

my god this was definitely the worst movie i saw all summer. I almost walked out on it twice. Not only did it suck, the sound effects were ear piercing and deafening.
