You kidding me? Just by the comments here and some of the review headlines I've seen, people are saying that the current pace is already too slow.

Daughter ran back to the house for shells. After barber wasted the neighbor with shotgun, everyone ran out to help daughter because she was stuck on the fence with Susan trying to bite her.

I'm thinking it was the druggie son cleaning the lady's stash out. At the end of the episode, he was trying to break into a neighbor's house, I think. Probably looking for more drugs.

How many doors down was the survivalist neighbor who was sick but bought a lot of water? One or two? I ask because I thought he was right next door. However, Susan was right next door... That probably means the survivalist bit/killed Susan.

That was very much like people described Trayvon Martin. He had been caught at school with "burglary tools" including a screwdriver and recovered property and had just bought two of the ingredients he needed for making the "fire ass lean" he was talking about on Twitter. He was taking a shortcut between homes and people theorized that he was looking for a bathroom with a medicine cabinet for the final ingredient.

When I first finished binge watching TWD (during Season 4) I thought to myself that they could make a bunch of spinoff shows like that and people will watch them. I'd watch all of them. The new episodes can't come fast enough for me. I honestly don't even care about the origin.

I could actually see them going in a lot of directions with the show spinoffs. Like someone mentioned earlier, a show about first-responders & stuff, the people who have to deal with all of this due to their job, would be pretty cool...the sheer insanity of it all. Or a military version kind of in the vein of Half-Life's Blue Shift...having to deal with infected civilians, then doing the hard thing of having to bomb out cities. I'd imagine that somewhere out there is a smart battalion of soldiers who barricade themselves at night to prevent bites if someone dies, but stick together to tough it out (...like they should have done at the prison). Lots of cool story ideas they could pursue, and people would watch every single one of them if they were good!

Man, most of you are thinking way to hard about this.

I'm just watching, ignoring screw ups, and enjoying the ride.

In TWD Rick is out while people are learning what these folks are learning right now. That's why they seemed so much smarter when he met survivors in TWD. The stupid people were already dead.

Also, Rick's group progressively gets smarter at killing zombies as the season's progress.

Bump for this week... Watching it Emmy's -- despite it being essentially the same as last year's show -- so won't watch it until later.

Really boring the first half, got good the second half. I see the potential now.

The drama with the soldiers taking the family at the end was pretty good, feels like the show is starting to gain some traction.

I'm glad the son got taken. Stealing morphine from a dying man is bananas, especially in the dire situation they're in. I was kind of hoping they'd follow up with the morse code blinky light person, but nope. Was also hoping the mom would take the gun on the street when she snuck out past the fence, but nope. Maybe next episode.

They did follow up with the blinky light person. The military went in and shot them to hell.

Sorry, that's what I meant - the military took them out, so there was no follow-up from the dad now that his interest was piqued.

But then again it's only been what, 9 days? So it's not like there's been a huge amount of time for a resistance to form or anything.

So, people got it right about the neighbor.

Military is indiscriminately killing people outside quarantine zones, or are they taking people away and having people fight back?

Next episode should really get things going. Then I think it's the finale with only a 6 episode first season order.

P.S. This is America... Where the hell are all the guns? I know it's a blue state but is L.A. really this devoid of guns?

you all know that's what will happen when shit hits the fan. Military will take control. Any resistance will result with death.

FUCKING ACCEPT IT :x

I'm kinda bummed they skipped forward 9 days, missing all the slaughter and chaos out in the city. I thought that was the entire point of this show.

I'm already tired of them being stuck in that one little street in that one little house (or two). AMC cheaped out after the pilot and moved the production to freakin' Vancouver BC and it looks nothing like Los Angeles. Hence them never moving too far out or showing too much of "the city". Plus they'll never get to the desert as planned because there is no damned desert in British Columbia.

Low budget production for high ad revenue due to a rabid fan base.... Get on board.

As a member of the military I am a bit frustrated by the portrayal of their actions. Once again the entirety of the military are portrayed as simple, follow orders against all morality, simpletons. Not to mention the glaring uniform issues shown (no one wears "hook and loop" rank insignia on their patrol caps, etc.).

I know, I know, suspend my disbelief or whatever...

It's really sad because they had the opportunity to make another show as great as TWD & it's just not. After seeing the first half of the show last night, you realize it's mainly just a cash-grab. The color grading is nearly as bad as a cheap Syfy show. The pacing is terrible & completely stretched out, the shots could be a lot better, I could go on & on. There's just so much unnecessary stuff that is focused on for too long to draw out the time. We're back to the later seasons of Lost :p

Yeah, my wife commented on this during the show yesterday.

The writers of most TV shows apparently view everyone the military and law enforcement as morons who just follow orders blindly. "OK sarge, I'll just go shoot everyone that moves in the head. Sounds good!"

I'm not in the military but even I was like "yeah right" with the way they were acting. Like how flippant the commander was about saying stuff like "so I don't have to shoot you all" to the entire crowd. Maybe a chief who had been in the desert for years & years, but a dude stationed in LA? Nah. It didn't feel right at all. But it's been the same with ALL the characters, like when the son killed the drug dealer in front of the parents...they didn't react like normal people should have. The character writing is...weird.

As I recall there is some rule or tradition that Military shows never depict the uniforms quite right... There was some hullabaloo about "BlackHawk Down" over the pin on rank being used by soldiers who rappelled out of the helicopters. They were required to wear sew on rank according to soldiers familiar with the MOS.

It was either DVD commentary or some article that informed me of this rule iirc (perhaps I heard it second hand from a military member talking about the movie).

Yeah, but I think that they went cheap on the production because they were unsure if the ratings would warrant a 2nd season. Now that it's been renewed hopefully AMC will choose to invest more in the show to hold on to (and perhaps increase) the viewers they have now.

I'm willing to overlook the flaws a bit as the show has been fairly decent aside from the previously noted faults. The commander aside I can believe the horn-dog behavior of the soldier hitting on the daughter of the barbershop owner (he seems like he could become a governor like character to me).
