Vague question I missed what upset Mom & the fat kid at the school after she gave him the pocket knife back but before they found the zombie?

Since Carol is no longer in the comics that the other series is based on it would make sense to use her for a crossover. Best I can tell, Melissa McBride no longer lives at Newnan Lofts (haven't seen her or her dog, Lincoln, in ages). This could mean that she has left this series and moved West. I almost expect to see her character in FTWD.

the mom is not such a good actress. it's like she has no reaction to anything. Or maybe that's intentional.

They are building the mom up to be the strong leader type. She is the Rick Grimes of FTWD.

Yeah, she's a pretty stoic character. The thing that bugs me is that she knows her daughter wants to go visit her boyfriend & has already tried to sneak out, so she needs to tell her WHY she can't go. Of course, that would probably make her want to go more because she doesn't want it to happen, but now that the neighbor is getting eaten across the street, you know...probably a good time to share now :D

Eh - In theory, none of them really know what it happening to people. They've seen some stuff, but even the dad makes a comment while looking out of the store at the rioters that makes it seem he is still very much confused about what is happening to people.

Yeah, that makes sense.

I wonder if they're going to take the school. Seems like the best location...already has lots of lockdown features. Basically Prison 2.0 from TWD

I heard something about them filming in Virginia, so maybe they relocated the cast & crew for that. Carol is way too awesome to get rid of!

What? Carol is leaving TWD !!??!!
Or just a pre-TWD appearance before her husband beats her all the way to Atlanta?

Aw.... Did they leave the cart behind?

Things are picking up, not that I found the first episode slow -- it did its job of establishing a normal world, and now we get to see it go to shit.

haha, i was like "you went through all that and left all the food behind???"

episode was more interesting this time.

Not sure I get why they aren't telling other people what happened? Is it because they aren't really sure themselves? I mean, ok so you don't know what caused it, but you could tell people what happened.

Or is it that they think people won't believe them?

Mom is stone cold letting the neighbor get attacked. But then I guess that means she'll be a better survivor not risking her own skin?

Curious how the principal got bit? Seemed like no one was there (parking lot completely empty. Are we supposed to believe that a zombie came in a locked school, bit him, and left?

When they were running with the cart, what set off the metal detector? Was it zombies or people coming to raid the place?

they're going to the desert but aren't gathering supplies? DO they have a house in the desert or what is the plan there?

I can understand the mother being stoic through all of this. Her son is a junkie, she works in a freakin' high school in the L.A. area, she's on at least her 2nd husband, etc.

At some point you go on auto-pilot dealing with things. She broke down in the bathroom washing out the blood from her clothes which I think is acceptable. You have to put on a strong face when the world is falling down around you.

What kills me is the flat response to everything. Just killed my son's drug dealer...shrug. Just smashed the zombie principle's head...shrug. Lady across the street getting eaten...shrug. Actually that's the other big problem I have with the show...they are terrible parents. Obviously things are headed south, and they've already seen firsthand what happens...TELL YOUR KIDS ALREADY! Tell the neighbors! Tell the barbershop people! I think the writers are trying to create dramatic tension here, but it's more annoying than anything.

I think her responses is somewhat intentional, maybe reflective of LA in general. The daughter seems to go through life with indifference as well. They obviously should have told the daughter whats up. She's the smartest one in their group, and she does what needs to be done, like taking care of boyfriend, cleaning up brother's puke, ready to stop someone from attacking their neighbor. She just needs to know what she's dealing with.

I think the brother and sister in general are better equipped to deal with whats coming, and the brother is a junkie! It should almost be like a new generation thing, and have all the parents dead by the end of the season. Like Walking Dead meets Melrose Place.

Its funny, but in a way it makes me think Wayward Pines reasons for hiding the purpose of the town makes some sense.

I kind of agree with the comments here about the lack of emotion overall from everybody. Could be bad acting, but I'm assuming it's really more thr direction/writing that was given to them, intentional or not.

If it were me, I'd probably be flipping a shit when somebody who should be dead starts walking around and moving... but overall I'm liking the show so far.

The setting in the show changed to Virginia after their attempt to find refuge in D.C. but it's still filmed in Georgia. I wouldn't say "get rid of." I'm expecting her to transition between the shows, like when Colonel Carter from Stargate SG-1 made ongoing appearances in Stargate Atlantis. Carol's already been outcast once and she's crossing more lines than ever in Alexandria.

I shook my head when she "acted" her disgust at finding the needle and foil in the book. It was laughably bad, like so many of her lines before and after.

Keeping my expectations low.

Maybe she just moved up to the east side now that she's raking it in...

Girl, why you scrubbing a waxed, hardwood floor with a brush? Just paper towel that shit. Maybe some disinfectant.

I assumed they put the supplies in the car, maybe I'm wrong but I don't need to view them doing everything.

I'm guessing that they think people won't believe them. People are coming back from the dead... that'll be a hard one to swallow for anyone.

The principal getting bit is weird. I think they were implying that there was a second zombie in the school from the PA system -- the microphones/speakers were in the classrooms, supposedly, and the principal was wandering in the hallways. Presumably, they can't open doors -- or the door was open and he wandered out.

Wasn't the principal coughing before? Maybe he caught the fever, died, and came back that way. Also, they never explained how the boyfriend of the daughter got bit...it was a pretty serious shoulder wound.

lol Yeah, but I think they wanted to show how disgusted she was. When I was a teenager I would have left it and just acted surprised when my parents got home like I didnt see it.

Principal had a big blood stain and wound on the back of his shirt. I don't remember him coughing, and at the beginning of the episode, he was patrolling the hallways pretty healthily -- no staggering, slowness, weakness evident.

I'm guessing boyfriend was out tagging shit (he's an artist and made a comment about coming back to tag the school mural in the premiere) and got bit by a homeless person. If the church/drug den thing wasn't a government cover-up, then that was at least one missing zombie walking the streets at night.

This is looking more and more like a govt coverup but very high level. The cops in the streets are still shooting for center of mass and only after that doesn't work do they shoot for the head. Tobias understands what's going on but like everyone else, he doesn't want to say anything for fear of people thinking he's mental. It looked like he was going to open up to the wife at the school but I don't think even he has the full picture yet.

My guess is that they're going to say that either it's the flu that's causing this or the flu shot - the writers is who I mean by 'they.' But I don't think we'll get any clarification on that until the end of season, if then. I think they're definitely going to deal with cause but obliquely. We're not going to get any clear exposition but we're going to get some hints and implications.

Go over there and knock on her door. See if she answers.

They should still be filming for season 6 in Georgia.
