When I read these things in the newspaper or see them on the news, I come to a cringed tightness and think of my children and how aweful it would be. Nothing more painful then knowing your child is frightenend, being tortured, etc and not being able to do anything becuase you do not know where they are.

Would an implanted tracking device be a plausible solution?

I would go for it. My kids getting abducted is something I worry about every day. If I found the guy somehow before the police their would be a need for a body bag because he's not sitting around in jail only to get released and try again.

i think it's a good idea. it is awful for a parent to know that their child is being tortured or possibly dead.

Ooh...how about you surgically attach a lanyard you your children and when you're not able to supervise them, simply hang them on hooks from the wall?

you all act like the child abductor couldn't take the tracking device off of the person they abduct. it would be pointless unless you are looking at the tracking receiver 24/7 and see when it all of a sudden goes off.

It says it would be implanted.

The only way I think this would be a good idea is if the only people to have access to it would be the authorities, but only with parent permission. This way neither parents nor authorities could abuse it.

I have kids (8 and 4) and I'd never go for something like that.

The vast majority of kids who are abducted are taken by someone they know, such as an estranged parent, or step-parent, etc. And while kidnapping pedophiles and psychopaths do exist, they are not as prevalent as the Lifetime Network movie of the week would have you believe.

Teach your kids how to be safe, it's a lot simpler, cheaper, and infinitely more valuable.

i concur... how would you like to grow up with a tracking device attached to you?
i just think thats wrong... bring your kids up properly and this won't happen...

Great idea! Let's make it a law! A couple of generations from now, the government will then be able to track every citizen in the country.

well you have to condiser your child's feelings too...how will they feel if at all times their parents have a close eye on where they are? Doesn't say much for trusting your children eh?

That's not a bad idea. Then when someone dissappeared in Aruba, or ran away from their wedding, they would know exactly where they went.
