Watch for sound, some people experience choppy play when Advanced HD is set in the audio options.

Edited settings.cfg to allow widescreen 1280x800 with default "High" for both Graphics and Computer in FEAR settings.

Just built my first AMD rig a few days ago and its blows away my previous P4 2.8C @ 3.3ghz ,I've been officialy converted ;)

3000+ 754 9800XT ...LOL..AGP!

1024x768, some medium/high, 4XAA, shadow off 40ish on benchmark, min above 30...

not bad...I can live without shadow I guess

1680x1050 @2xaa/4xaf
Everything is either max or high except soft shadows.
Average 40fps
0% below 20fps
Max 72fps
The game slightly laggs at the peak of a huge hectic explosion scenes. This game, no doubt is a resources HOG! But at the res I play, the graphic is just fearfully great.

Edited: For those with w/s display like Dell 2005/2400fpw, use this http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1779">info</a> to change the game resolution settings.

I think this game kinda sucks.. It doesn't look as good as it lags my 7800 gt. hl2 was a much better game for a scare

I played the first two levels at 16X12, everything maxed, 16XAF, and softshadows on, smooth as silk.

This doesn't bode well for my single 7800GT and my 2405FPW... maybe it's time to pony up for SLI...

Thats odd, im running higher settings than you with the rig in sig...

1280x960, drivers set to high quality, max everything except soft shadows and aa (off), filtering set to anisotropic 4x in game.

You should be able to push higher with some tweaking, especially with a 7800GT.
They aren't higher.

Drivers:
AA: Application
AF: Application
Image: High Quality
Vsync: On
Gamma Correct AA: On
Transparency AA: Multisampling
Triple Buffering: On (though it doesn't seem to work in FEAR)
Negative LOD: Clamp

Other than those, I am at a higher resolution and I have AF all to 16x except lighting to minimum, not volumetric, which is at max. I tested in this one spot in the game that I noticed I had an excpetionally low framerate just in that one area.

Thats different than your op....

1680X1050 0AA/16AF on an X850XT PE. Not butter smooth; I'd rather play at 1280X1024 (totally smooth) but it's not a widescreen res so it ends up being stretched. 1280X800 doesn't work on the 2005fpw either :( .

1680x1050 4xSSAA/16xAF everything at high/max, except soft shadows. v-sync/triple buffering enabled.

The game plays smooth enough for single player, but if I was playing multiplayer I'd probably loose the v-sync in exchange for some frames.

I'm really pick about how first person shooters play, it seems like I can feel whenever the frames dip below 40, so I leave the settings pretty low:

1024x768
everything medium
no AA or AF
no shadows

Ouch, HL2 wasnt scary at all. And it does look good enough for its requirements. I mean, look at the grainy textures of HL2 and compare it to the sharp and clear textures in Fear...

and although im beating this to death, the entire environment being per pixel lit, per pixel shadowed, everything having physics assiciated with it, heavy parralax mapping, diffusion lighting on glass and clear plastic, and far superior AI to the competition.

Never mind that junk, HL2 ownz! ;)

FEAR is definitely a nice game, I would prefer less soldiers and more monsters though.

I second to that. FEAR is a HL-2 wannabe. Sorry, it's not even close.
Do not get me wrong it was fun playing it though.
Just my 2 cents.
