I do not see how you, (assuming to be an intelligent person) can honestly not mind that gay's are donating sperm. Even if you look at the disease-aspect only... they DO have more diseases. It's not an 'opinion' it's a fact. They have MORE diseases than the typical hetero who has sex with prostitutes, and that's why the FDA is pushing this.

Sometimes you have to push aside your 'moral' values and look at the big picture. In a perfect world there would be NO diseases at all. unfortunately it's not a perfect world and we have to accept these things.

I personally think that the screening process should be based on sexual behavior, not orientation, and should be levelled equally against homosexuals and heterosexuals.

Nice idea but people lie. You can't trust someone to be honest about their sexual behavior in this situation. So, you screen out the higher risk groups. Of course, you can't stop a man from lying about his sexual orientation either.

You can't trust people to be honest about their sexual behavior in ANY case, let alone one in which they're being PAID to provide the correct answer!

What does HIV have to do with anything? I don't understand this at all. Don't they test the sperm?
HIV has an incubation period. Of course they test.

this doesnt make much sense...

gay man w/o HIV...straight man w/o HIV...i dont see the difference? Unless the FDA is implying that gayness is genetic...
They wouldn't accept either. What they are saying is that gays are more likely to contract HIV, and that's a fact.

This has NOTHING to do with genetics, or any BS implications. It's about risks, and risk factors.

Anal sex=risky in regards to contracting a STD.

Heterosexual men have anal sex, too. Why aren't they included?

Just because they can do it, doesn't mean they do it often. Seriously do you think hetero men have as much anal sex as gay men?

Being a gay man= increased anal sex, which is a major contributor to STDs. I will agree that hetero men who have anal sex are at pretty much the same risks except that the people they are having anal sex with straight women have less STDs than gay men. So even if they have as much anal sex, it's with people who have less STDs.

All from a stats. point of view. IIRC the same thing was done with gay blood donors, I think there was a thread. lemme check.
