The FDA is going to ban sperm donations by homosexual men. Unfair or not? I'm fairly liberal, but I think such a ban would be a good idea because of the HIV issue.

Problem is--gay donors would have to identify themselves as such, and what about HIV-infected non-homosexual donors?

Article about FDA ban on gay sperm donors.

Because straight people don't get HIV.

P&N is that way.

I think it would be more along the lines of the nature vs. nurture. Is homosexuality caused by a gene or learned. If its a gene and someone has a gay kid they could be no so kosher with that idea.

1) if homosexuality ISN'T a life choice, then it is inherited.
2) Gays tend to have more diseases. Sorry about that, but it's a fact.

becaues of these two reasons, I think it SHOULD be banned.

I don't think the children of homosexuals are any more likely to be gay than children of heterosexuals.

Wow. So all gay men have HIV? should we also ban anyone from africa from this, too?

in that case, it's a life choice and they need to stop 'acting' this way.

I believe the FDA is basing the policy on epidemiological data. Like I said, I'm fairly liberal, but it sounds like a good move.

(This is P&N?)

if it makes them happy and is not harmful to anyone outside of themselves, why should they stop 'acting' that way?

This has absolutely nothing to do with the article.

Any disease in question would have to be transmitted by semen. Most diseases are not.

I'm probably going to get bashed for this, but if it's a chromosome thing, isn't there a likelyhood a child would have a greater chance of having the same traites? not really sure, just asking.

Yeah, hardly any diseases are transmitted by bodily fluids.

Were you asleep in med school, or are you knowingly talking bullshit here?

How about you stop 'acting' straight for a month or two and let me know how that works out for you.

Hell, maybe it's hereditary but just a recessive gene. :p
