You've got to be kidding me.

In another decision Thursday, the FCC proposed fining Infinity Broadcasting the maximum $27,500 for a Stern show broadcast July 26, 2001, on WKRK-FM in Detroit. The FCC received a complaint from a Detroit listener about a show that featured discussions about sexual practices and techniques.

One complaint for a single listener dating back to July, 2001??? Omg, we are going to hell in a handbasket. Someone put Michael Powell out of his misery already.

4/5/04 update: $100,000.00 fine from the FCC to be announced. :disgust::|

Don't waste your time trying to explain to the feeble-minded, it's obviously beyond his realm of comprehension and understanding.

Talk about being two-faced; first they say Bono didn't do anything wrong, but now he did(but they're going to be nice, and not fine him). As for Stern, he may be a piece of <FCC prohibited>, but to fine him for a 3 year old complaint is just being petty.

It's ironic to me that as we persistently wage war in the middle east, our own country becomes more and more like one run by the Taliban. How is Stern supposed to broadcast a show at all when the FCC might come back after three years and fine him? Keep in mind that the new Communications Decency Act would mean that he would be personally liable for up to $3M per day - he could be facing hundreds of millions in fines and not know it for years.

This is a damned disgrace. This is not my America.

what's worse is that most people don't seem to care simply because they don't like stern. there's lots of those idiots right here in our midst.

well they can't fine him for anything he's said before the law gets passed, if it does. that would violate the ex post facto statute of article 1 of the constitution.

Expo Facto law.... you can't be fined/charged with anything if at the time it was commited, there was nothing wrong with it. To bring out a fine 3 years after the fact due to changes in law does not hold a person liable.

When gov't interfere's with original constitutional amendments... you know this country is going to the sh!tter. :|

well from what i understand, they would be applying the law as it was defined in 2001, which cites a $27,500 fine. this new bill in just passed by the House would up the fines to a ridiculous $500,000, but they aren't going to go after Stern with that law after it's passed.

what a crock of sh1t. such a hefty fine is going to scare EVERYONE in broadcasting. we'll be left with nothing to watch except Full House and Teletubbies on broadcast TV. i'm sure the cable channels are just loving this, since the law wouldn't affect them.

Even better, radio will lose listener's, advertiser's will look into new ways in which people will see their ads..(blimps...big LCD screens popping up everywhere [like the one's in NYTC and Clear Channel :(]), effectively RUINING people's lives by pressuring and conforming them. A person who dwell's in an Urban setting will totally oblivious to society (seriously, privatization of personalities and secularism of religion has greatly affected a mass volume of people who have become passive and essentialy don't think for themselves.) With many local govt increasing police forces to protect us from "terrorism" is making it harder for people to protest what they believe as unjust. The whole HASSLE with the courts and lawyers and officer's will again lead to accepting what is thrown at your plate.

Professionally I don't see anything wrong with it, people need control, and what better way to look onto a society not bothered by decisions made entirely for them. Eventually this form of control will pass (as history points out) Nature and time and human's flawness inevitably makes it so. First Blue Collar Blues... White Collar Blues....Surfdom Blues... etc... change will occur eventually.

Personal beliefs however.................... MAD AS FREAGIN HELL :|
