FBI shoots innocent Person!!!!!!!!!

Um... I don't see anything in the article that says "they" don't think "they" did anything wrong. In fact, most of the quotes indicate that everyone thinks something went very wrong.
 
WTF. Cant believe they would do that without giving it a second thought what they were doing. They dont even double check or make sure. I hope stuff like this doesnt happen any more, but unfortunately it will continue to happen.

You have no idea what happened at the scene.

Nevertheless, I do hope that the investigation(s) demonstrate some form of illegal activity on the part of the officers (negligence at the least?) and that they are suitably punished for their actions. Unfortunately, I'm not very optimistic that this will happen.

I'm sorry, but there should be NO issue as to who's paying for this. The very LEAST the FBI should do is pay for all medical costs associated with his full recovery.

The FBI should take care of the man's family, but saying this is typical is outrageous.
 
Rest assured that guy will get a HEFTY sum from the FBI....
Still it's a bitch that it happened in the first place....how stupid were the agents that pulled him over? Didn't they follow ANY procedures? If they had, him reaching for a seatbelt wouldn't have been grounds to shoot him. I don't care what they thought he might be doing.
 
I agree Viper. One can only hope that the associated costs will be a non issue and the agency responsible will do the right thing. That poor sod, went to the store and ended up damn near dead.

Agreed, nobody should be vilifying the agents involved until we know more about what happened.

it is a shameful tragedy and i am sure the two agents that acted wrongly will be dealt with. and i am sure the government will pay the costs of the medical procedures and recovery. hope the guy comes out alright...won't be the same as before but i hope he comes out ok.

Sure it was a mistake. The problem being that such mistakes are becoming more and more frequent. I remember a very interesting article I read concerning SWAT teams. It was shocking to see how many such mistakes occur. One conclusion drawn was that popular culture was a major contributing factor in such cases. Apparently images of armed law enforcement officers acting in dramatic ways tended to influence others who actually work in the field. As to how much truth this conclusion contained I wont hazard a guess. It does however seem reasonable, human nature being what it is.
 
I can't believe the FBI hasn't somehow reassured the family that the medical bills will be taken care of... man, they shot him while he was complying with orders to get out of the car (according to the family's attorney). just for reaching for his seat belt. hate to see what would have happened if he actually reached for the door handle.

I remember when this police officer was in my house with his gun drawn because I had accidentally set of my alarm but didn't realize it. I suddenly had a glock pointed at me, and the first thing that occured to me was: "Oh god, i hope he doesn't screw up." I had a cell phone in my hand & I almost dropped it & reached for the sky... I dunno if it's stupid that it occured to me at a moment such as that one that I didn't want to break it.

getting shot in the face would prolly suck.
 
When I get pulled over, I turn one the lights in the car and hold my hands where they can be seen.
Why? So some numb nut doesn't shoot me.

Change your name to BigMoron BigDude. There isn't a single thing in that article that says they thought they did nothing wrong.

It's a horrible tradgedy and you have compounded it by reporting things that didn't happen.

In the aftermath of the shooting, family members raised concerns about how quickly Schultz received medical attention. However, 911 dispatch records showed that paramedic units were on the scene within minutes, and Anne Arundel County fire officials said their emergency workers had full and immediate access.

Uhm... nope. Can't say that I have. Have you? If so, please start another thread and tell us all about it. It'll be fun! (You don't have to share the parts about making poop-stains on your camouflage undies if you don't want to😱) Florida plates are pretty suspicious.

The problem with that is that if they had hesitated and the guy had been some crazy thief then that can be the line between life and death.
 
approaching a vehicle makes most law enforcement people very nervous and they are on edge to start with. but to fire a weapon when no opposing weapon was in view, contradicts most agency guidelines and I think the agents will have alot of explaining to do. generally you can only apply lethal force when you are facing a life threatening force (or you believe the individual may cause life threatening situations to innocent by-standers). all in all, (with the current info), it sounds like a major screw-up and hopefully the FBI will take the high road and make best efforts to minimize the impacts to the man and his family.

edit = and yes, many officers now approach vehicles with their hands on their weapons and may even draw it, but there's a big difference between drawing it and firing it.

I dont think they acted wrongly, there info was wrong thay thought it was a badguy reaching for a gun.. 95% of all agents would of done the same thing.
