The only reason this is even a close discussion is because of the complete asymmetry of information.

Despite the accusations, they have very little that isn't public knowledge. What do have they have to show for it other than pretty bullshit?

Trump, OTOH, has gotten away disclosing almost nothing.

This election has been quite an eye opener... it's been fun watching the Republican Presidential candidate defend Putin while Trump and conservatives are embracing Russians hacking into their political opponents emails, quoting or linking to the Kremlin propaganda outlet, RT, and seeing Wikileaks and Assange piss away any idea that they aren't partisan political hacks and Russian tools. What's even richer is that these same morons whine about their own government spying on them...lol! IIRC, the FBI Director is appointed for 10 years, he could stick around if he's into abuse....

The statutory rape case was a civil case, withdrawal by plaintiff is the normal way to end them upon a large undisclosed cash settlement from the defendant (or in Trump's case, most likely some other backer's money).

It is true that FBI director's now are limited to a single ten year term (a reform put into place when J. Edgar Hoover finally died) but it isn't like tenure. They can be fired-St. Ronnie fired one.

I don't advocate firing Comey, but he either has lost control over the FBI or doesn't care about the political leaking from his staff. This whole FBI situation cries out for a real, honest bipartisan Congressional investigation-which will never ever happen under present GOP policies. If for nothing else it would interfere or divert publicity from the literally dozens of Hillary political inquisitions they have planned.

Giuliani clearly did know about the letter, you could tell he was just dying to reveal more when he was asked about it like a gleeful child trying to keep a secret. He has a lot of connections to FBI agents so I'm not at all surprised he would have heard something about it. That doesn't mean the FBI purposefully leaked something, it means some agent(s) blabbed to him about it.

I don't have a clue what the meeting between Lynch and Clinton was about, but it damned sure was not a friendly chit chat about grandchildren. It was inappropriate, but I doubt it had any bearing on what happened with the investigation. If I had to bet, I'd bet that it was Clinton basically telling her: "hey, level with me, we're in private and nobody will know, what's going to happen with this stuff?", but that's just baseless speculation on my part.

My guess is that Bill took the opportunity to get an update from Lynch on the investigation away from prying eyes.

And this is why Comey should have shut the fuck up until he actually had something. He clearly swayed the election for no defensible reason.
