Interesting that one of the seven was an undocumented immigrant. Strongest reason for securing our borders and allowing only those seeking legal admission to this country.

So 1 out of 7 is an illegal means we should crack down on illegals. What about teh 6 who are legal should we start throwing people here legal out because they might be terrorists?

I think you missed the point altogether. The fact is that while a majority of immigrants coming to this country are simply seeking a better life there are those who come here with the intention of killing Americans. Whether or not all of these same people would be denied admission because of terrorist ties or criminal records remains to be seen. I'd rather we secure the borders and at least make an attempt to stop them from getting here in the first place.

Interesting that 1 in 7 liked Cap'n Crunch, while the other 6 liked Honeycomb. Stongest reason yet to only allow people who eat Honeycomb cereal into our country.

FYI, most of the 9/11 hijackers entered the country LEGALLY.

Are you saying that these arrests were timed for political purposes?

Hmmm....crack dealers are now domestic terrorists?
will not compute. logic = null.

The immediate leftist pooh poohing begins.

And continues! Must have been a "talking points memo" issued via lefist@loonie.org today, or perhaps being a partisan tool just comes so naturally to these folks at this point that they can't be objective about anything anymore.

Creating terrorists through setups is fighting terrorism?

http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/BBC_S...Tower_plotters_just_wannabes_0623.html
In a BBC news broadcast today, Miami Herald reporter Mani Garcia remarks that the government's arrest of seven men in connection with a 'plot' to blow up the Sears Tower is probably overblown.

"They've been described to us by sources as 'wannabes' -- still to be determined if making a connection about talking about doing an attack and and being able to finance an attack," Garcia said. "We've seen previous cases where the Federal government has announced with great hoopla breaking terrorist cells. And when you start deconstructing a case, you see that there's a lot of talk."

Reports on CNN and MSNBC from neighbors state that the group was formed as an alternative to the crime and violence in the area. One woman, a sister of one of the men arrested, said they were a religous group helping the community. The warehouse was described by the residents in the area as a place where the men went to pray.

Also, the indictment says the FBI informant had to furnish the camera and a rental van so they could take pictures of the targets.

This really sounds a sh*tload like that railroading of that guy in New York where two FBI informants posed as weapons seller/buyer and stuck some poor schmuck in the middle.

I'm not going to disagree with you about our need to secure our borders. Doing so only makes sense. But logically thinking, somebody who was entering the country with terrorism in mind would want to do so legally so as to avoid drawing unnecessary attention or limiting their operations. This is how terrorists work. They use our very own rights and liberties as weapons against us. Once they enter legally and gain the protections of our constitutional freedoms they are less hindered. To enter the country illegaly is to automatically limit how free you are to move and operate within the country's borders. It is one more obstacle that could get in the way of the terrorist succeeding in his mission because he is always having to look over his shoulder. Statistically speaking I'd think the terrorist who enters the country legally stands a better chance at operating successfully and the terrorists know this for the most part. So secure the borders and keep illegals out, yes. By all means! I don't see how we can afford not to. But we can't be fooled into thinking that securing our borders makes us very much safer from terrorist attack. Maybe a little bit, but not a lot. We have to have more thorough and stringent entry requirements and background checks on people who enter legally as well.

Anyway, great news. Who knows how many lives might have been saved by this bust?

With all the intrusive spying, why are there so few arrests of terrorists?

we are to busy trying to protect their rights! 😱😕:brokenheart:

No rights are being protected, and there still are few arrests.
The Gov't is doing basically whatever it wants to do, and still few results.
Therefor, Right Wing whining about 'too many rights' is an invalid statement.

Yes, I'm sure this bunch of ghetto scum crack dealers were trying to strike a blow for their fellow Arab Muslims overseas. These people don't even fvcking know where Iraq is, and I seriously doubt they're even capable of spelling the word "Muslim".

Like all the latest sting ops.

This bust is indeed good timing, especially since the WSJ just published that article about the Government's program to view everybodies' financial transactions. 😉

Sucks to be those 7!

And Larry Silverstein (WTC owner) is in a deal to buy the Sears Tower.

Curious?

Hmm, apparently not. Although to be fair, the other guys can't just sit back and enjoy it either...unless you count the blatant political crap that's sure to spawn in this thread.

Well you know, I can see I was wrong. The lefties aren't ignoring what is probably a foiled terrorism plot of some kind in favor of finding some way to bash the Bush administration...and the righties in no way seem more interested in scoring political points than in how many lives this might have saved.
