Curious, how long it will take Favre to learn the playbook. Isn't he also overcoming shoulder surgery?

I believe the Vikings Offensive coordinator came from Green Bay. It shouldnt be hard for Favre to learn the playbook at all.

Yes, he is overcoming shoulder surgery. Some people say its been fixed, some people say its in a fragile state and just waiting to get hurt again. I guess we will see once the season starts!

I guess he practiced today and will start this friday night. The other QBs must be very happy.

Based on articles I have read, I am pretty sure both QB's were aware of the situation the entire time.

Based on the situation it also seemed like most of the players on the team were wanting/begging him to come to the Vikings.

Not surprised. Favre is an upgrade for the Vikings over the other 2 guys if he's 100%. The problem is that he doesn't like to sit on the bench and will play through pain and ineffectiveness even if he's not 100%, as seen last season and probably over the course of his career. The same drive that made him a good QB is also a detriment if he gets semi-injured but not bad enough where he's forced to sit. The Vikings should win their division either way, though.

I can imagine there would be days towards the end of Cal Ripken's career that they just played him because it was the thing to do and they didn't want to bust the streak instead of playing the best guy on the roster at game time.

Fuck Farve....Favree...whatever....how is it that you can carry the r before the v anyway? He's going to get the Vikes exactly where he got the Jets...nowhere...I hope a Packer breaks his ass in one of their two games this season. Poetic justice at it's finest....I predicted it here first!

I dont like that hes playing all these gimmiky *games* for a camp exemption... he should just fake an injury and show up for camp to learn the playbook.

This guy needs to take a hint and retire. You're not good anymore. John Smoltz needs to take this advice as well.

Now, if it's a gimmick and the Vikes are doing it because they want to sell more tix then more power to them. Even if it was at the expense of dragging your team through the media.

And that's just it. This is his JOB. That's all it is to him. This reminds me of that Peyton Manning commercial where he decides to be an idiot fan to everyone who is doing their day to day job.

Yeah, Favre has never liked football, just doing it for the money... :p

I'll continue to watch the Vikes every week, and more than likely continue to be disappointed. Should make for a fun GB @ MN game which I'll definitely have to go see. The Dome is so fucking loud, it's going to be a madhouse for this game.

As comical and unbelievable as this whole ordeal has been, I'll root for him. I respect a guy who is willing to play an entire season of football out of spite.

Reminds me of that Seinfeld commercial...

Jerry: "Excuse me I'd like to return this jacket."
Teller: "Certainly. May I ask why?"
Jerry: "........For spite..."
Teller: "Spite?"
Jerry: "That's right. I don't care for the salesman that sold it to me."
Teller: "I don't think you can return an item for spite."
Jerry: "What do you mean?"
Teller: "Well if there was some problem with the garment. If it were unsatisfactory in some way, then we could do it for you, but I'm afraid spite doesn't fit into any of our conditions for a refund"
Jerry: "That's ridiculous, I want to return it. What's the difference what the reason is."
Teller: "Let me speak with the manager...excuse me .............Bob!"
(walks over to the manager and whispers)
Teller "........spite....."(Manager walks over)
Bob: "What seems to be the problem?"
Jerry : "Well I want to return this jacket and she asked me why and I said for spite and now she won't take it back."
Bob: "That's true. You can't return an item based purely on spite."
Jerry:. "Well So fine then ..then I don't want it and then that's why I'm returning it"
Bob: "Well you already said spite so......"
Jerry: "But I changed my mind.."
Bob: "No...you said spite...Too late."

I have been a Vikings fan for years, but this is like signing the antichrist to run your church. Desperation is not fun to watch.

One thing is certain, the NFC North has really started to become one of the most interesting divisions...not only does this make the Packers/Vikings rivalry more interesting, the Vikings suddenly have that missing piece...and they're not the only team to have that seeing as how the Bears also seemingly have taken care of that problem by adding Cutler. Now if only the Lions could bring something to the table...what are the chances of bringing Barry Sanders out of retirement? ;)

That's not really the point and you know it. He has a job he happens to love and no matter what we closet shrinks think we will never understand the predicament of choosing to retire like these guys face.

I am hoping for 5 INTs against my Brownies, but I know better. It will probably be 2 TD/0 INT with AD contributing a couple more TDs.

He needed to come back to pad his INT numbers until they out of reach

srsly

All these people saying he's a better qb than the other 2 on the team seem to have forgotten last season. The problem with signing an old qb who still thinks he's got it is that he will still try to force the ball into triple coverage. 10 years ago he would have made a fantastic completion that awed everyone. Now? INT.

And it will only get worse as the season goes on.

Playing a mediocre qb who knows they're mediocre is a much better option than playing this asshole, who will single handedly lose several games for them and destroy their playoff ambitions. At least a mediocre but humble qb will take care of the ball and not take insane risks like Farve.

Jesus Christ. How many retards can we fit into this thread at once? You think you know all about Brett Favre and they end up talking out of their ass. You are the perfect example of that.

So....lets see what brett favre did last year, so you can finally be educated and stop talking out of your ass.

Jets record in 2007: 4 - 12
Jets record in 2008: 9 - 7

Favre Stats Prior to injury (First 11 games):
8 wins - 3 losses
2461 Passing yards
20 TDs
13 interceptions
2 lost fumbles

Post Injury (Last 5 games):
1 win - 4 losses
1011 Passing yards
2 TDs
8 interceptions
0 lost fumbles

So basically Farve improved the Jets by 5 wins and almost gave them playoff hopes until he got injured. Man, what a SHITTY QB! I wouldn't want that guy on my team! He made a team better and put them on the radar when they were a laughingstock the prior season. Jeez, that Favre guy is a joke!

I didnt forget last season. Did you? Apparently you dont look at the facts too closely.

Yes, Favre throws up some pretty bad passes. Yes, it probably is because he is a seasoned vet who thinks he still "has it". Are the 2 QB's that the Vikes have now better than Farve? Not even close. You are an idiot and should get laughed out of the room when you make a comment like that.

Since you dont know much about football, here are a few pointers. The vikings have this player on their team called Adrian Peterson. He is one of, if not the best current RB in the NFL. The vikings are a run-first team. They dont have to rely on the passing game. In fact, they made the playoffs last season without having much of a passing game at all. They wont have to rely on Brett Favre to "save the game".

Maybe one day you can improve your football related opinions. Until then, please stfu and let people who actually know about it do the talking.

And when he got injured his pride got in the way and he kept playing and played horrible, he should have shut himself down and let someone healthy play qb, god knows they couldn't have done any worse than him.

Brett Favre?
Isn't he the guy that leads the league in incomplete retirements?
