It's just comical. All the people that hated him for years because he played for the Packers are the same people who are falling ass over tea kettle to get him signed. Minnesota should be famous for this and our fair weather fans!

Oh well, it's not like I go to the games anyways. It'll just be more traffic to shred through on the bike!

Favre ruined his legacy.

I like Favre as a packer. Then the whole 1st retirement thing happened, and he came back and played with the Jets. I got annoyed with the whole thing, but fine, he's playing again. Then he retired again, and subsequently sparked more rumors of coming out of retirement for a second time. Then he decided not to. Halfway into the preseason, he wants to come back again?

I hate Brett Favre, and I never want to see him play football again. I dont even want to see him comentating. Sh!t, I dont even wanna see another pair of wranglers in my life.

Epic in the sense that you will be hoping Favre gets pounded into the dirt?

Why do people who know absolutely nothing about Brett Favre continue to act like they know his entire career?

- Favre is *NOT* injury prone. You are retarded if you bring this up
- Favre might be over-rated, but that depends on your definition of it. I dont think he is overrated at all.
- Favre has *NEVER* liked any preseason camps or games. If you look back at his over the past 4 or so years, you would of known that.
- Favre *IS* an attention whore. However, his dislike for training camp and preseason might be the reason he delayed his answer.

How can you be a fair-weather fan if you all of a sudden like a player when he is on your team? I hate Tim Duncan, but if he was on my team I would love him. I dont see what is wrong with that?

So you hate him because he can't decide if he wants to retire and become a fisherman? Or because the media has blown the whole thing out of proportion?

I look forward to seeing Brett play this year. He is a hell of a lot more exciting to watch than 90 % of the qbs in the NFL. The monday night game vs GB is going to be epic.

This retire / i'm back / retire / i'm back cycle is really silly.

however, i think a old ass Favre is still a better QB option than Jackson or Rosenfels.

I really think the vikings should have made a run for Tyler Thigpen...

It's funny because it's true. There's a reason why Minny is going silly chasing a declining, aging quarterback with declining skills, coming off of arm surgery and historic year in terms of interceptions, who can only play for a year or two....

It's because he's clearly better than the alternatives.

To be fair if people weren't eating this up ESPN wouldn't be cramming it down our throats as much as they have. If he was just doing this and the outlets didn't care it'd be a byline, not "BREAKInG NeWS OMG WATch"

I haven't seen him doing anything other than look like someone who doesn't know what he wants to do. It's not his fault ESPN shows up every time he wants to take a crap. Just boycott ESPN instead.

Oh Brett Favre. You continue to make a mockery of yourself.

I wonder if he even realizes how much he lies.

More news from Minneapolis: http://www.startribune.com/

Brett Favre will be a Viking after all.

Three weeks after the future Hall of Fame quarterback told the Vikings he had decided to remain retired, a top Vikings official confirmed this morning that Favre is en route to the Twin Cities and is on board one of owner Zygi Wilf's plane.

Favre might even practice with the Vikings today and is expected to start in Friday's home preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

A Hattiesburg television station reported that Favre boarded a plane this morning at the Hattiesburg Laurel Regional Airport. The plane was headed for St. Paul.

Favre will receive a one-year, $12 million deal, according to Yahoo! Sports.

Favre's decision to join the Vikings now -- after initially saying he didn't want to go through the grind of a season -- is an indication that he really wanted to avoid the rigors of a two-week training camp and living in a dorm for two weeks.

A source also said the Vikings began actively re-recruiting Favre last Wednesday after quarterbacks Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels had a particularly rough practice. The Vikings also had concerns about Jackson after he suffered a sprained MCL in his left knee on the second day of practice. He missed three days after the injury and has not looked as sharp since returning.......

....Childress and Wilf both sounded convincing early in training camp that the Vikings pursuit of Favre was finished. "He's gone his way, and we've gone our way," Childress said. Childress added "there's not a chance, from my standpoint," that Favre will play for the Vikings. "I'm going forward with the guys we have, and we'll have a great competition," he said.

Wilf spoke to the media two days into camp and twice said no when asked if there was any chance the topic of trying to lure Favre out of retirement could be revisited. "Just like coach said, 'When you have an opportunity to go get a Hall of Fame quarterback you try and do it,'" Wilf said. "We realize, like he did, that when training camp came around that it was in or out and we're very happy with what we have here. [We're] very excited about being out here. To be coming back this season [as] the division champs and the talent out there is great and the competition is going to be great. I'm looking forward to a great season. A lot of good things to look forward to."

Wilf also downplayed the aspect of what Favre's decision meant in terms of lost ticket and merchandise sales. "We never factored that in at all," he said. "We just wanted to make sure, as we always do, that we get players on our team that will make us better. It didn't work out and we move on. We're looking forward to what's going to unfold here."

Favre, who played for the New York Jets last season after spending 16 seasons in Green Bay, had surgery to repair a tendon in his right shoulder late this spring.

The two sides flirted last summer after Favre decided he had prematurely decided to retire in March 2008. The Packers didn't want Favre back, but weren't about to allow him to play for their archrival.

So he wanted to remain "retired" for a few weeks just to skip training camp. :disgust:

Dumb.

Look at the alternative. Dumb and Dumber. Farve is an improvement over the two fighting for the position right now. I blame Childress for not signing a quality QB.

How can you be a fair-weather fan if you all of a sudden like a player when he is on your team? I hate Tim Duncan, but if he was on my team I would love him. I dont see what is wrong with that?

So I suppose the two of you are best friends then? Failing that, I don't know how you could know any more about his career than anybody else?

As to your first two points, you hit the nail right on the head. It's all in how a person defines injury prone and over rated. If you don't think he's injury prone or over rated, good for you. Have a cookie.

Your last two points are precisely why I don't particularly want him to come to MN. Maybe it's common in the NFL - I don't know, but for the Vikings to be chasing somebody who clearly thinks he's better then the rest of the team (maybe he is, maybe he isn't... doesn't matter) and doesn't need to participate in training camp like all the other guys he's going to be playing with just rubs me the wrong way. He could be the greatest thing since sliced bread but can't be part of a team if he comes in thinking the rules don't apply.

As always, those are just my two cents.

For the record, the fair weather fan thing was just a comment about MN sports fans in general. When the Twins win, they're great. If they hit a losing streak though, you better watch out!

I suppose overrated may be subjective, but how do you then argue the fact that the guy will still most likely be a Hall of Famer? Whether you like him or not, you've got to admit that's a Hall of Fame career. And injury prone? The iron man of football? Hmm. Like others, I think Farve's career over the last few years has been absurd, but you've got to appreciate his history.

From Favre's Wiki Page

Favre is statistically one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. Favre is the only player to win the AP Most Valuable Player three consecutive times (1995?97.)[3] He led the Packers to seven division championships (1995, 1996, 1997, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2007), four NFC Championship Games (1995, 1996, 1997, and 2007), winning two (1996 and 1997), two Super Bowl appearances, winning one (Super Bowl XXXI). He holds a number of NFL records including: most career touchdown passes (464), most career passing yards (65,127), most career pass completions (5,720), most career pass attempts (9,280), most career interceptions thrown (310), most consecutive starts among NFL quarterbacks (269; 291 total starts including playoffs), and most career victories as a starting quarterback (169).[4][5]

So, he is the only guy to win 3 MVP's in a row and holds the most consecutive starts record for QBs. There is no definition of over-rated or injury prone that fit here.

I'm not going to sit here and deny he had a great career as a Packer. However, since returning to play with the Jets, he hasn't been anything to write home about. Couple that with the 'better than you' attitude and the back and forth back and forth over coming back again and I'm just done with it.

If he does end up playing here and the Viks have a decent season, I'll order up a big 'ole plate of crow although I'll still be bitter over the training camp thing. On the flip side, if the Viks end up bombing again, you can be damn sure I'll be the first guy to say "hate to say I told you so - ALRIGHT!" Just like the dude from The Hives. :)
