This made the upcoming NFL season about 10x more interesting. I've grown to dislike Favre, so I'll relish another opportunity to watch him crash and burn.

I'll be buying are Favre jersey now just to piss off my packer-fan friends :)

Those saying people wanting favre are only fair-weather fans, can't the same be said about the many packers fans who now despise him? Obviously there is some reason behind it, but considering a few years ago many of them would bow down at his very presence, I think it may still apply.

The thing is, he knows what to look for, a head is one of the biggest things that "makes" a QB, he has that, and with AP and Taylor pounding it on the ground, he's gonna have easy throws to make.

uhh hardly.
Those that despise Favre now is because he slighted them and their team. He put himself before the Packers and any "Fan" is a Packers fan 1st and a Favre fan 2nd. He was a God in WI for 15 years. That's completely over now.

"The tear is still there and there's always a possibility something could happen with it later on,'' the source told Werder. "...it hasn't gotten any worse and he's been working hard. Hell, who knows? It could flare up again if they make him throw 50 or 60 balls a day."

"It was concern about that injury, and the pain in both of his ankles and left knee, that discouraged Favre from signing with the Vikings before training camp."

"He had a lot of aches and pains and they basically needed a commitment from him before he felt he was ready to play,'' a source told Werder.

I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'... :)

At least there's one other person that gets it.

no shit.

Sure, Favre was durable in his Packer years but he's getting old now. IIRC, he blamed his arm injury on why his performance at the end of last season was so terrible. He's just off arm surgery for a torn tendon in the off season and his arm may not heal as quickly as it did back in the day. Couple that with him being reluctant to play preseason games and show up to training camp because he wasn't convinced his arm was 100% is not exactly optimal for the Vikings.

Of course it's possible he'll still play well like the start of last season but if he has "arm problems" again and goes 2 TD and 9 INTs in 5 games, that's not what the Vikings want to spend 10-12M on. I guess we'll see how it goes when the season starts and how the team chemistry is.

Clarrett is a shining example of how to ruin an amazing NFL career before it ever gets started. Favre is a shining example of how to erase an amazing NFL career.

Maybe the arm will fall off.

So you're saying my NFL career was basically a combination of Maurice Clarrett and Brett Favre? I'll take it!

Oh Brett Favre. You continue to make a mockery of yourself.

I wonder if he even realizes how much he lies.

If you say you aren't going to buy that 65" TV then the next day end up changing your mind and buying it, does that make you a liar?

It does when you are telling your wife that you have absolutely no intentions of buying that TV while at the exact same time talking to Best Buy about financing options.

Favre was talking to the media and telling them that he had absolutely no idea where all these rumors were coming form and that, in no uncertain terms was he coming back. It later came out he had been discussing the idea with the Vikings all along (this was a couple months ago). That makes him a liar.

He text messaged Trent Dilfer was he was on the air on ESPN and told him "No Truth" to the rumors he was considering a comeback (again, a couple months ago). That too, makes him a liar (and REALLY pissed off Trent Dilfer).

Better yet, Farve gets a 1 year contract probably eclipsing both of their contract salaries put together.

I think someone in Green Bay should print a #4 Vikings jersey with the name "HAHA" on it.

I wouldn't even pay favre half of 12 million. He's going to sputter midway through the season.

I believe the Vikings Offensive coordinator came from Green Bay. It shouldnt be hard for Favre to learn the playbook at all.

Yes, he is overcoming shoulder surgery. Some people say its been fixed, some people say its in a fragile state and just waiting to get hurt again. I guess we will see once the season starts!

just think of next year when both those qb's are pissed at there own team and start to look elsewhere. the vikings are screwing themselves long term for a big risk on the shorterm.

Exactly. If Favre doesn't have a good season and/or the Vikings crash and burn, I expect he'll "re-retire" and take his ball and go home. And then we'll have the "unretiring" saga to live through again next year.

I've been a lifelong Packer fan since I grew up in Wisconsin - even through the 80's etc. So when Favre came along he did what I thought would never be done when he took the Packers to the Superbowl and win it. Thing is, the talk of him retiring started the very next season - that's over 10 years ago now. Every single season since they won the Superbowl I had to endure endless hours of Madden, Michaels, etc talk non-stop through the game that "this could be his last season!"

This all exploded when he 'retired' from the Packers 2 years ago, then wanted to come back, then ended up in NY. All I heard from the end of that season to the beginning of the next was if he was coming back or not - I don't want to hear about football in May, as much as I like the sport. I was so sick of hearing about it I didn't watch more than 15 minutes of football last year. Now here we go again, every Packer game this year is going to be nothing but talking about Favre being in the division. Honestly I don't even mind what he's doing, go for it. But for the love of god the sports media needs to shut the hell up about it already. I honestly hope the Vikings come to GB and kick Ted Thompsons team around Lambeau just so their isn't anything left for them to talk about 'what ifs'. At least we won't have to endure Madden explain the fundamentals of football this year - I think we're all aware by now the guy with the ball is trying to get to the other end of the field.

As comical and unbelievable as this whole ordeal has been, I'll root for him. I respect a guy who is willing to play an entire season of football out of spite.

Will someone just fucking kill Brett Favre please? Then we'll know for sure if he's actually god damned retired.

I guess he practiced today and will start this friday night. The other QBs must be very happy.

I really don't know why people care what he does. If he can do the job, let him do it. I highly doubt anyone here would turn down 10-12 million to work for a few years. Just because he job is football, it shouldn't be any different.

Based on articles I have read, I am pretty sure both QB's were aware of the situation the entire time.
