He gets knocked down, but he gets up again, they're never gonna keep him down.

I dont keep up with football but even I hear things about Favre. Its been suggested the opposing teams have been unnecessarily rough on him in the hopes of promoting early retirement.

Any one who knows more than I do (which is to say, anything at all) care to comment?

He holds every (meaningful) record for an NFL QB.

unfortunately for him he ended his career with the "i'm gone" "i'm back" shenanigans and the whole, showing his little favre to various women who apparently didn't want to see it. the voters remember stuff like this, and it influences how they vote.

I won't believe that it's really over until opening day next season.

i will believe it when next season is over. there's too much chance some team will tempt him out of retirement to "save" their season.

He's a Hall of Famer, but I don't consider him nearly as great as everyone else does. I think his greatest achievement is his durability. He was able to accumulate those numbers mostly because of that. He won one Superbowl, and lost multiple big time playoff games with mind-numbing mistakes. He threw more INT's than anyone ever as well.

He's certainly great, but not top 10 great.

This time, stay retired and enjoy your first ballot vote into the HoF Brett...

i hope with all his antics the last few years the voters make him wait a year or so before voting him into hall

Seriously broken system if he does not get in on first ballot.

Just like what happened to that Chicago Cubs player that just died recently, it is a crime that he was never entered into the HoF before he died.

it's not broken, the voters are human. the garbage he's put teams through the last few years along with the off the field stuff will influence how they vote. a lot of people don't get into the hall of fame first vote, and some who should be still aren't in. it's life, which you of all people should understand, considering everyone is out to get you.

as noted above, he has as much downside as upside, but he is (was?) a tough sob.

Thank god this prima donna is finished. With that said, he's an easy HOFer and had an amazing career.

I think he WANTED to retire last year...but the Vikings threw so much money at him that he couldn't say no.
Hell, for $16 Million, I'd go out and take that kind of beating for one season!
Most of us would, but a guy like him surely has more than enough money already. Greedy mofo.

Haters gonna hate. Ever think he wanted to play? You know, since that is all hes done for the past 20 years and pretty much all he knows.

You just said it right there, it broken.

Yes, jealousy is a horrible human trait making a lot of things broken.

Dang, you seem so hurt over this that you even forgot Ron Santo's name.
