Favorite vacation spots?

I'm going to Vegas this week (for the first time on Thursday, partially for EVO - the worlds biggest fighting game tournament), and I already have a trip to Aruba in a villa for a week in March of 2012 ( http://www.thearubahouse.com/ ) and I'm also looking for a place to go around my 30th birthday for 4 nights with just my wife, and I landed upon this today - http://www.privilegehotels.com/ - and I think i'm going to go there for that time.

It got me thinking what my favorite places I've been to are so far, and I get really excited when looking for places to go.

I'm big into going to tropical places on vacation. I've been to Aruba, Cancun, Barbados, Nicaragua, and Hawaii (Maui).

I think out of all of those my favorite was Maui. A lot of it was due to being to snorkel right off the shore from most beaches (and seeing stuff) , as well as the general nature of the island. it is just phenemonal. I saw so many breathtaking things there, including hiking 2 miles up a mountain through a bamboo forest to the base of a 400+ foot waterfall.

The other places were awesome, don't get me wrong, and I plan on going back to most of them again. Cancun is the party place that is just flat out fun as shit and I still like doing that stuff. There is also a ton of stuff to see. Nicaragua was because my wife's family is there, but it was also a lot cooler than I expected it to be.

The place I really want to go is Bora Bora and Tahiti on the overwater bungalos. We plan to go there for an anniversary in the future but not for a while since it is really expensive.

So what is your guys favorite places you've gone on vacation?

Tough...I've been to Hawaii (Oahu), Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein (about 5 minutes 😛), Japan, and South Korea.

Hawaii tied with Switzerland for the most beautiful, but I had more fun in South Korea and Japan. I basically partied 3 weeks straight in Seoul. Start drinking at noonish, continue until about 5 or 6AM.

I'm the opposite; the last places I want to visit are tropical places with a lot of beaches. One of my favourite vacations of all time was going to Vienna in December, after that was probably Japan; I want to go back to Japan as soon as I can.

for beaches: maldives >>>>> hawaii (3x) >> tie btw all carribbean (st croix (many x), st martin (2x), puerto rico, aruba (2x), playa del carmen, bvis, belize, bahamas (2x))

for nonbeaches: tokyo > amsterdam > dubai

(agree the hike up to that waterfall on the east side of maui is amazing)

I've grown accustomed to having scuba diving right where I'm staying so that's a requirement for me as well as shore diving. Curacao.

Been to a bunch of Caribbean islands and Hawaii. I like Hawaii the best (Kauai) because of the varied landscape.

wow I just googled maldives ... the water looks amazing. i just hate how that place (and all of the south pacific) is so damn far from where I'm located, which is near you. I'm in the DC metro area as well. flights to those regions are just ridiculous.

North Gulf coast of Florida starting from Mexico Beach to St George Island. I like quiet, uncrowded beaches. I also like to catch lunch and dinner while at the beach and this area has seafood in abundance from blue crabs, oysters, scallops, clams, and mussels. Great fishing too.

Maui was the best for me.
The Caribbean comes in second.

:whiste:Let's get togetha and feeel alll riiight!:whiste:

So not to rub it in OP but having gone to Bora Bora I highly recommend it. Was outstanding in all ways. We rented a private overwater condo and a car. Was so much better then to have to live by a hotel's schedule. I would go back in a heartbeat if I had the money.

Tough to say. I've traveled a lot but never been back to any one place very many times. If it's a leisure / relaxing holiday I'd say Hawaii has been my fav so far. If it's a holiday to some place interesting I'd say it's a tie between a number of places in Asia for me. I really like Southeast Asia, Malaysia for example. But then Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and France were awsome too. :hmm: 😀
