Favorite toothbrush?

So I got a new toothbrush based on a recommendation in Popular Science of all places. I've tried all kinds of toothbrushes, just recently been using a Pulsar which worked pretty good. The new brush is a Reach Total Care + Whitening. Just your basic toothbrush except each bristle is embedded with calcium carbonate to help remove stains. Supposed to basically help whiten teeth. Can't say much for how well it works, since I've only used it once, but it sure felt good when using it.

I think I used those briefly. i stick to some Crest packs, not sure which ones, but you can get them at a decent value in 4 packs at Target for maybe 5 bucks.

I have noticed that toothbrushes have become insanley expensive in recent years--there is, honeslty, nothing new, nothing remarkable, nothing worth your money in the toothbrush industry.

seriously.

When I started to think about it, you need something that is abrasive, that has some stamina, that disturbs a rather non-uniform surface in a short amount of time, and holds up enough to do it within 10-20% effectiveness over a decent amount of time.

...this is just about every toothbrush that money can buy.

Like a good camera, the success of the output is 95% dependent on the skill of the user.

when you start looking at consumer products like this (toilet paper, paper towels, soap....), and you realize that the $2-5+ premiums that you are paying for the "elite" brands are soley paid into these brands' ridiculous advertising budgets...you start to think.

really, does it matter that my tootbrush's arm bends ~15 degrees inward, or was it designed that way simply to "Stand out from the competition; let's fill in the details later?"

Maybe on the low-end that is correct, but I have noticed marked differences when going from a cheapo to the Pulsar, and I can feel a difference using this total care.

Worth every penny. There's a 50% rebate from Oral-B right now so the top-of-the-line model (5000, the one I have) is only $50.

The cheaper models have the same motion and you can pick one up now for around $30. I've used cheap electric toothbrushes before and they sucked, but this is the real deal.

Bolded is bullshit. Consumer products like toilet paper you pay extra for if you don't your ass to feel like it just got raped when you rub it up on it. Cheap toilet paper hurts like a motherfucker and can fuck up your next hour.

Photography deals A LOT with what camera you have. Especially so if you're doing macro, sports, anything with moving shit, anything where there is low light, ANYTHING THAT IS INTERESTING BASICALLY.

You can teach a monkey how to use a DSLR. Not everyone knows composition, lighting, framing, etc. I think you can easily google awesome iPhone camera photos. The photographer plays a huge role. Gear only gets you so far.

So you like to take pictures of interesting stuff that moves in the dark. I can understand your need for macro.

The POINT of the argument is that a cheapo camera doesn't come anywhere near as close to the quality of a real camera. Just like with toothbrushes and other products. There's always cheap crap that isn't as good as stuff a step up. There's also ridiculously overpriced junk that isn't better, or sometimes as good, as the moderately priced stuff. Bose.

Funny that this thread comes up now. Just the other day I was looking at toothbrushes wondering why I'm so picky with brushes. I thought it was just me.

Good to hear the oral-b electrics are decent. I was wondering if they're worth a shit.

Let me clue you in on something. You are 8 years old. You don't know shit about anything. I say again, ANYTHING. You only think you do.

what do you know about rape?

and what do you know about photography?

your comments and posting history tell me: nothing.

I just use an Oral-B CrossAction toothbrush. One of those powered toothbrushes you can get for like $7 at the store. I like it better than a regular toothbrush.

Bullshit. My iPhone cannot take pictures in the dark to save its fucking life. A nice DSLR with a nice lens can take them quite nicely though, with ease...

I was using a cheapo Oral-B electric tooth brush my dentist gave me a long time ago, thought it was pretty good and wasn't sure if getting a ProfessionalCare would be worth it. Picked up a model 4000 from the most recent slickdeal frontpage deal (for $37 AR, which kind of makes me angry - the day after I started looking at toothbrushes on Amazon the 1000 series jumped from $47 to $60+ and stayed up there). Rant aside, this thing is absolutely amazing. It's really quite a step up from the cheapo electric. It does both oscillation and pulsation, and you can definitely tell. I've been using FlossAction bristles because that's what I was using last; I definitely want to try out the whitening mode with the new head (polishing cup... IDK if it will help but it's worth a shot).

So long story short, the oral-b promotion going on right now is a great way to sink some money into a really nice toothbrush that will last you for the next few years, and hopefully keep your dentist visits quick and painless.
