So what's everyone's favorite roll/sashimi/etc?

I'd have to go with Spicy Crunchy Salmon roll. Lots of places I go to don't have it on the menu, but if I ask them to make it for me they will. My usual place has even added it to their menu since I started requesting it! :)

My second favorite isn't really sushi, just good fresh sunomono salad.

LOL, reminds me of my friend's cousin Ted. He's immune to the stuff. After a couple of sakes, he'll down a mouthful of wasabi, no problem, not a sniffle. I always like the old trick of sticking a ball of wasabi under your friend's sushi while they're in the bathroom or looking the other way...;)

I haven't tried all that much because I like what I've had so much that I don't want to risk eating something I don't like and missing out on what I do. :)
Unakyu rolls, yum, eel! And, in my hometown only, Ukiah rolls, specially made with cucumber, salmon, avocado, little cooked chicken, rolled in those orange fish eggs whose name I can't remember now. YUM!!!!!

For the trout around here, worms or salmon eggs work pretty well....

...You mean people use raw fish for a purpose other than bait?? ;)

Yo,
Depends on what's particularly good that day.

Tend to favor maguro (red tuna) and sake (salmon) based rolls, though I prefer sashimi to sushi. More for your money.

Spider roll (softshell crab) is often a good call.

Yeah... most sushi places in the US tend to cheap out on the tuna... no fat in it... same with the salmon. You get the "cheap cut." I was clueless until I went to Japan... I asked my friend that was living there why that piece was so much more expensive than the other piece... he said try it... so I did... wowowowWOW, it was so much more flavorful and tender. Yummilicious.

Oh, I like Yellowtail & Eel (Unagi) too. Good stuff... so who else watches Iron Chef? :p <droool>

Most good sushi places have fatty tuna and salmon collar (the richer, tastier cuts). You just have to ask for it; it's more expensive and generally not on the menu, but they will have it.

My favorite is unagi (eel) or spider rolls (deep fried soft shell crab roll), but maguro is always great. :)
