Favorite Simcity?

So since I have a lot of boring time with not much to do lately, I figure I wanna get into some games that I can sit down with. I already plan to start a new Guild Wars char, I've been getting some Civ 4 in, and I was thinking about finding my old C&C disks or if not, just pick up some new pack of C&C games. Then I also got to thinking of Sim City. I know I have Simcity 2000 around here, well actually now that I think of it that book of CDs is at my house at school, damn! I got zSnes for the SNES one (which I actually really liked) and just got the Sim City 4 demo again. I remember playing that demo a while ago, but it ran like poop and I found it to be harder with micromanager and whatnot. Now that I have 1.5GB ram and a faster CPU overall, I thought I'd try again. Well it still runs like crap! Its probably like 5 fps or less at times, though that doesnt matter as much in this game. So I'm not sure if that one is worth picking up, pluss I haven't gotten a feel for it yet. Lastly there's Simcity 3000. I mildy enjoyed this one. I also seen it at Walmart for $10, along with lots of other old but goodies. So I could buy any one of these for cheap.

What's everyones favorite one and why? Also, note if any expansions or addons signifcantly added to the gameplay.

And I may as well add a poll. I'm not including the orig SimCity for Windows tho just cause its too old. I thinka ll of the ones I've listed work in XP with little to no work.

For SimCity, it's kinda a tie between 2000 and 4.

C&C - Red Alert (and its expansions)_ were by far the best. C&C: Generals - Zero Hour comes in a 2nd tied with Tiberian Sun.

Simcity 2000. I loathed 3000.

I also played SNES Simcity quite a bit; it was my first strategy / simulation game ever and I loved it.

i only played 2000. it was pretty fun, but then again, i was only like 4 or so. i liked doom2 a lot more. 😀

im thinking about getting simcity 4, you guys suggest it?

and what was better about 2000 than 3000?

i liked 3000

2000 was best IMO. Graphics were good(sufficient for the gametype), it ran great, and the game elements were well balanced between challenge/fun/ease of use. 4 just seemed like too much work and performance was an issue. That said, the ability to build neighbouring cities in 4 was nice.

i am tied between SNES SimCity and PC SimCity 2000.

There was a SNES version of 2000 you know... at least I have a ROM of it.

I had the most fun playing SimCity 2000. SimCity 4000 seemed a bit overwhelming and crytpic... couldn't figure it out

i believe i played it for sega, and was pretty good

im they type of person to use cheats to get more money and the extra buildings😱
i like to have everything accessable right off the bat, since the design is the most fun for me

so no one would suggest i get number 4?

i'd be getting an employee discount (would it still be worth it?)

any tips for making quick money?

seems for number 4 the only way is that cheat and you only make 1,000 each time

I remember back in college my roommate bought SC3000 and I borrowed it and burned it. Love the day when it was no hassle to burn a game disc. I think it was great. Game play is not much different from 2000, but the graphics are really pretty.

Sims 2 is way more fun than any SimCity though.

SimCity 4 is great, but its a processor-heavy game. My A XP-2000 could barely do it. Now I have an A64 3500 and now its (obviously) got it going without a hitch.

Yea, 2k was pretty amazing when it came out. I liked 3k though, i dont get why people didnt like it. Only gripe i had about 2k was lack of hydro power and launch arcos. Also rebuilding water/power/garbage things when they were too old, didnt do it automatically, really annoyed me.

To be fair, it's all about Sim Tower.

Refresh my memory, but didn't SimTower have major bugs that prevented making large towers?

I voted for SimCity 2000. It wasn't overly complicated like SimCity 4, and it stands the test of time pretty well. It also had the benefit of being compatible with SimCopter and Streets of SimCity, which were pretty good for the time period.
