Um this one is easy.

Total Annihilation.

/thread.

Dude, you misspelled "The Homeworld Series"

It's a common typo, the keys are like right next to each other...

Homeworld featured Adagio for Strings in the first mission which is what most people remember. The rest was just filler/mood music which was cool but by no means a top soundtrack. Besides, can you really credit a game for having a top soundtrack just for including well-known compositions? If so, Civ 4 would be the clear winner for its selection of classical masterpieces included. When considering top soundtracks, I'd say only include games with original soundtracks.

'Alien Trilogy', I seem to remember had some very good original soundtrack music. Of course it could be that it just seemed good in comparison to the game, which was completely awful.

Didn't Homeworld also feature some Indian type music that sounded exactly like a track off of the Run Lola Run soundtrack? Meant to check and see if they really were the same track or just sounded similar or if I just imagined it.

The Guitar Hero series

(rofl)

ok, well, the question didn't say "original" music!

now for best original music, i'd say....

Portal all the way, followed by Guild Wars.

Everyone in this thread must be too young to know about/remember Interstate '76. If you've never played the game, you'll never know just how appropriately a soundtrack can complement a game.

Funk-a-licious!

My votes:

COD 1
Medal of Honor Allied Assault, Pacific Assault, Rising Sun (that taiko drum one in particular)
Max Payne, May Payne 2 (the end credits song, Late Goodbye by Poets of the Fall)

American McGee's Alice hands down. I hate listening to game soundtracks unless I'm playing a game but Alice is the one exception. The soundtrack is amazing.

Hands down, Freedom Fighters. Jesper Kyd composes awesome game music. I think he did some of the Hitman Series as well

Dragon Quest 8. I left the music on while flying on the bird just because it was really good sounding.

Edit: That's not a PC game. Well still good. I did like Morrowind's music as well 😀
