80's were better imo. i miss black crowes and blues traveler though. Some weird bands came out in the 90's, like Whale, porno for pyros..can't even remember many of them. Lyrics were wierd, nonsense, they dressed weird to outrageous, some acted weird. lol..90's.....lol

^ Quintessential 90s to me.

Tie between Pearl Jam and Oasis. Still listen to Definitely Maybe, (What's the Story?) Morning Glory, Be Here Now, Standing on the Shoulder of Giants (well, that's a 2000 album) almost every other day. Been a while since I've listened to PJ's old albums but that's mostly because I overplayed the hell out of them.

Sadly the good music was not very popular. Things got better towards the end of the 90s.

High School (1990-1994):
Nirvana is the only band that stands out in my mind.
Tool added ... but not as good as Nirvana.

College (94-98,00)
311
Beastie Boys
Phish (wish I listened to them back them but they deserve a nod)

I was big into Kyuss, Fu Manchu, & Nebula. Some members moved around between em and there were some other side projects from members.

But metal is and will probably always be like that. I'd say my favorite metal of the 90s is probably Sepultura (though I guess they actually started in the 80s and came to fame in the early 90s. Maybe Pantera. Hell I don't know, I can never come up with just one when people ask for my favorites on music/movies.

Yeah these guys were awesome as well. I managed to see them at Lollapalooza ~1996 along with Soundgarden, Metallica, Ramones, Screaming Trees, Rancid, ... I know I'm forgetting someone.

I would have killed a man to see that show. Such an epic lineup.

Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, or 311. I just bought a 311 CD last month.

I think I'm Pearl Jammed out. Years and years of them being played over and over (SiriusXM is horrible about this) makes me change the channel even though I like them. I need a 5 year break.

I'm including bands that may have debuted in the 80's but released their best stuff in the 90's...

Alice in Chains
Blind Melon
Coroner
Helmet
Manic Street Preachers
Meshuggah
Sanctuary/Nevermore
Thought Industry
