Damn, this place is turning into Detroit. Pretty crazy stuff going on these days.

Your small town hasn't even grown to the size of Detroit in its heyday.

Probably a drug deal or domestic issue gone bad...humans are pieces of shit....only retarded academics believe in the innate "goodness" of man.

We do not welcome the use of the 'r' word here.

Yes. A single shooting makes you Detroit now.

This is not the first one. This stuff is getting more and more prevalent now. Lots of violence that goes unreported too. Theft and vandalism is insane too, happens nightly. The other night 20 or so cars got keyed in one area. Got my truck starter stolen a while back too. One of my friends had his tail lights almost stolen (they left before they managed to get them undone). The city is falling apart.

Go back a decade or two and it was not like this at all. There is a serious drug and crime problem getting worse and worse.

Well, I think this is the first time I've heard of a vehicle's starter being stolen. Catalytic converters, sure.

Is Toronto so fat with new money that towns 400 miles away are absorbing the "hood"?

No idea, but we're basically a drug/gang hub now. We're actually considered the 3rd most dangerous city in Ontario.

https://www.mytimminsnow.com/22099/timmins-ranked-third-dangerous-city-ontario/

I'm surprised tshores is on that list, never really seen that area as being crime ridden, it's mostly farm land, figured it was quiet there.

I guess Americans are desensitized to this level of crime as it's normal in the states, but for here it's not normal at all. We used to be the stereotypical "nobody locks their doors in Canada" city. Now even if you lock your doors they'll just break in.

The laws don't help either, as if you try to defend your property or even yourself you're the one that ends up in trouble.

That article is from 2017.... here's hoping it got better since then!

We have shootings every other day in New Haven ... well not REALLY but sometimes it seems like it!

Violent crime has always been an issue in cities but this year its been especially bad with shootings around here, mostly gang/drug related.

Don't want to jinx myself but honestly I've personally never had a problem in my neighborhood. Everyone tells me I look like 100% definite undercover-cop material so that MAY explain things. (or I just look broke & crazy so not worth it!)

Install a blue light bulb in your porch fixture. People might take it as a hint a cop lives there. Maybe.

:p

People in my immediate area don't tend to think "cop" when they see an "OBWG".... (old bald white guy) ... it's 90% Yale-people. That's more of an issue in the hood... of which there are PLENTY in New Haven.

Robocop is from Detroit. Do you have any cyborgs in Canada? ....or still just relying on that one tank?

When I lived in North Stamford my closest neighbors were a 200+ year-old cemetery ... BEST neighbors ever!

Do you have a pre-existing condition or something?

If not, I mean you gotta get out more. There's a whole lot of living life going on out there.
