Today was the first time I ate any fast food for months. And over the past 2 years previous to that, when I did eat fast food, it was maybe something off the dollar menu at Burger King. And every time I ate, it always made my stomach a bit unsettled. My friends and I agreed - that eating Burger King just made you feel like shit afterward, which is why I never ate much.

Today, after a good session of snowboarding - I was starving, and decided to stop at Burger King. Because I was HUNGRY, I decided to be a fat ass and get a Triple Whopper (with small fries). I could not finish the meal, but I still felt a bit sick after eating it. It was the "Burger King shitty feeling" (not to be confused with being gorged). Four hours later when I got home, my stomach was still a bit unsettled so I decided to drink a large glass of water. Almost immediately after that I began to burp up some of that fast food flavor, and it made get really nauseous. I had to induce vomiting, which is just awful to do while sober. And I feel like I only got about 1/4 out of what I took in previous to that.

Fast food is out for good. I can wait next time. I guess after being healthy for so long, my body was just downright rejecting it. I've had food poisoning before, but this was different. This was an overpowering of the BK shitty feeling - too much for me to handle.

So to everyone - it's very possible, and very easy to stay away once you've really made it to healthy eating habits.

Maybe it's the BK? Or triple patties? I feel that triple whooper would be too big for anyone in shape anyway. I rarely eat fast food, obviously, but I got myself a nice single swiss cheese/mushroom burger after skiing this Saturday at some local joint, went down just fine without any problems.

Burgers are not unhealthy. It's just beef, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, bread, cheese, all the same stuff you or I eat on a regular basis as a part of normal healthy diet. My guess is that BK ingredients suck and/or they use too many shitty condiments to hide the awful taste.

I've actually had that issue most of my life - McDonalds and Burger King always gave me a stomach ache. Always. The only time I would eat there would be on the road trips to/from uni as they were the only food options at the rest stops. Without fail, whether I got a salad or a burger, I'd have a stomach ache and/or diarrhea after. Obviously, I started bringing food with me on the trips after a couple of these incidents, but I never did figure out what about these two fast food joints evoked such a response.

OP you shouldn't have eaten so much of that junk. In an emergency super hungry situation like that, you should have had a smaller amount just to satiate you and hold you over till you can get some real food.

Fast food places such as McD's use MSG a lot. You could have a sensitivity to that. Also they may not be keeping hot foods hot enough and cold foods cold enough, which allows bacteria to grow and hence could cause you to get food poisoning (stomach ache, diarrhea, and/or vomitting). Not to mention it would a a miracle of one of those minimum wage fast food employees were to say wash their hands more than once a decade or so.

McDonalds always leaves a "McDonalds" taste in my mouth for hours after I eat something from there. It also leaves a sticky and oily feeling on the roof of my mouth.

I ate there last year (grilled chicken) for the first time in 9 years. It made me remember why it had been 9 years, despite the fact that it was just a grilled chicken sandwich.

Heh, I was also pretty grossed out by "Supersize Me" with Morgan Spurlock.

I've got a pretty good immunity to fast food. When I was young (~14-15) I worked at McDonald's and got free food. In college, when I was taking the train to work, I would stop at either McDonald's, Taco Bell, or one of the other fast food places for breakfast and usually get some fast food for lunch too.

No, it wasn't healthy...but my innards are pretty much hardened to whatever crap I stuff down there now.

Guess you just don't have the stomach for it. I have been eating way too much fast food (4-5 times a week) the past few months and I'm doing fine. I know it isn't healthy, but I figure I'll eat whatever the hell I want for as long as I can. Currently 27, 6'1 and weigh 165. I workout a few times a week and am in pretty good shape. Would I be better off not eating fast food? Most definitely, but who cares.

I am the same way. I have been eating healthy for a while now and I just can't eat fast food anymore. I get the shits and it feels like it weighs me down for a couple days. It doesn't even taste that great. I'm too the point I enjoy healthier foods more.

You should really see a doctor about this. It might be some kind of food allergy you're not aware of.

The same can be said for people who get the shits after eating Mexican food. If Mexican food gives you diarrhea, see a doctor right now. Over 100 million people live in Mexico and they don't seem to have a problem. I'm not Mexican nor do I live anywhere near Mexico and I love Mexican food.

Most people do. There wouldn't be a McDonalds on every street unless 99.9999% of the population could eat there without feeling sick.

Getting the shits after eating spicy food is rare. The one person I know who claims to have any problem with spicy food is a friend who's allergic to everything.

Google search for "spicy food diarrhea" and see what the results are. Here are the top results I'm getting for causes of why this happens. Remember that these are not statistical, just popularity on Google.
1. ulcerative colitis
2. irritable bowel syndrome
3. overly sensitive digestion system
4. acid reflux
5. galbladder problem, early sign of irritable bowel syndrome

You'll probably notice that the term "that's normal" never shows up in any of these results.

Heh, Mexican (or, more accurately, very spicy) food sometimes does a number on my stomach too. Not a big loss as I don't like my food too spicy anyway (taste wise - I just don't see why people enjoy pain with their food), but I've never been concerned about it. MANY people I know get the "Mexican shits". If it burns and hurts your tongue, why should your intestines feel any different about it?

Moreover, I'm not allergic to anything that I know of and am in excellent health in general. I think it is just a matter of what you are used to. I tend to eat a fairly healthy, all natural diet with very little in the way of spiciness, so it's not that surprising that the hyper processed food at McDonalds or spicy Mexican food would give me an upset stomach.

If your body isn't used to breaking down certain foods, you're going to feel crappy when you eat unhealthy foods on an irregular basis. Hence, most Americans who don't eat large, fattening Mexican meals regularly will feel pretty bloated after having one every now and then. There's absolutely no reason to believe that this is caused by one of the conditions you posted above if it only happens with certain foods.
