Recently I made a thread about how some assmunch hit my car while it was parked by my house.

I now need to go through his insurance... well I attempted to contact them two days in a row now to talk to the adjuster that has been assigned to me... lo and behold they have been haaving "computer difficulties" two days in a row - so both the adjuster AND the supervisor that have been assigned to me are skipping work rather than taking calls from people, like me, who are carless, missing hours of work and have no other mode of transportation.

I should use this to get more money on my claim

Why would you need to deal with his insurance company? That's what you pay your insurance for.

I have liability only.
So your insurance won't act on your behalf even though the accident was the other guy's fault to recover damages since you only have liability?

Nope... why would or should they?

There are a few that will try to intervene if the other insurer is being unhelpful... but they are not obligated to do anything.

most likely not, what could they possibly have to gain by doing so?

Get a rental, keep the receipts, and they (I expect) would need to cover it.

My State Farm agent was the best, whenever I had an issue like this he jumped right in to help out, even though I had the bare minimum required insurance.

Yeah I can see why they wouldn't since they're not out anything for collision coverage, but I assumed that they would act on your behalf as part of basic coverage. I've always had some level of collision coverage, so I never really looked into it. Oh well, learn something new every day.

My State Farm people have been great any time I've needed anything as well.

Perhaps an edge on their competition? If company A, B, C, D will all act on their customer's behalf, then they'll lose their edge. It's simply about providing excellent customer service with the product they've purchased.

Farmers gave me a quote of $6000 a year for full coverage on my soon-to-be new motorycle.

Needless to say, i'm not going with them. ;)

When you get into an accident, it's your job to call both insurance companies to report the accident. That's why I hate those state farm commercials so god damn much. "If you get into an accident, we'll be there." Yeah right, my ass. When I was with state farm a few years ago, they didn't do sh!t. I kept calling this local state farm agent and she kept me on hold for 30 min, then hang up.

i have farmers but am thinking of getting away recently as ive heard many claims liek this from my mom. She got into a rollover accident and the person that hit her had farmers as did my mom. Now since its the same insurance company dealing with both sides they have been nothing but shady, sending over people to talk to my mom that are actually on the OTHER side of the case. Then they are always delaying payment of her dr bills because of some 'computer glitch'. Its all REALLY shady, as i imagine much of the insurance field is, but still they seem to have perfected the art of screwing over their customers.

The one time I had to deal with Farmers, I just drove to the local Farmers' service center instead of having an adjuster come to my location. Do you live near a Farmers office?

ah.. should have gotten at least comprehensive.

it's always worth it to get comprehensive. it pays for hit & run, and your insurance NEVER goes up for a comprehensive claim.

This wasn't a hit and run.

I do, but my car is not in a safe driveable condition - it drives, but no more than 25 MPH, and it veers heavily to the left.

Anyway, the adjuster FINALLY called me and within 5 minutes made the determination that I am not at fault. It is now moved to a local adjuster - my dad is reaming them right now to put is in the front of the line since we are gonna be out of the the state for a while and want it done FAST. Most likely it's a total loss :(
