I really wish they had finished the Delta Sector mod.

+1. I just finished that mod and it was really good. The middle map had some lighting problems (although I could give the maker the benefit of the doubt and assume he was trying to induce snow blindness rather than over expose the lighting). I played on Average difficulty and it was a bit of a challenge. The AI tends to be really tough (those guys know how to hide really well). And the eye candy was awesome.

Anyone know if there are similar mods out for Crysis?

I think I stopped playing before this happened, but it doesn't make sense to me. The 1.41 patch was user created, no one was forced to apply it, I don't see why it would affect anything. If you're unhappy with it, just uninstall and go back to 1.40.

Nope, it was hand in hand with Ubisoft. They have it listed as an official patch and most of the server admins adopted it right away. Part of the problem was that there were some admins who kept 1.4 and some who moved on to 1.41 which split an already dwindling online population.

Heh.. There are so many mods out for Crysis, you won't even know where to begin.

Check out crymod.com

Seriously, some of these mod teams need to start their own studios. Such as the guys who did the mechwarrior mod.

Many of the mods are simply custom maps.

There are "modular" mods, and you can combine them to make different experiences.

For instance, there is a "natural" mod which makes bullet damage and other things more life like, as well as beefs up the AI of enemies. You could install that. Then you could start installing custom maps and levels.

This is the real beauty of CryEngine and the sandbox. Can't wait until CE3 drops and we get the editor. We'll be able to start making levels and burning them to disc to play on our consoles.

How would FarCry perform on my new build?
i5-860 at 2.86 GHz, 4 GB of DDR3 1333 MHz, and 9800GT with 512MB memory. I built this PC for non-gaming purposes, just curious 🙂

It would perform w/o a single stutter all maxed out.

Yeah, no kidding. I've got a far less powerful system (an older Opteron 170 with 2GB ram and an 8800GT). I max all the settings out on Farcry and get great framerates. It's just a pretty old game engine that has held up very well.

Thanks, I just wasn't sure, because this video card was pretty cheap ($70) so I didn't think it would be all that powerful. What other games can I have fun with without sacrificing quality too much?

Yes....that rig will max FarCry with smooth framerates, along with all other games from the same year as FarCry......and even some of the newer games today it will run ok.....just not maxed out.

You will love FarCry will that set-up.
