That game was truly in advance of its time, it still looks great by today's standards, six years later.

um yea, for sure. if a game came out today with those graphics and good gameplay, it could still be a hit

I just finished Matto 4 last night and have to say that while it was good, Matto 3 is way better. Much less "cheesiness" and better levels/tricks and puzzles.

I loved them both (so far, I haven't completed Matto4 yet). These two free mods are just as good as many full priced games that come out these days (and with technology that is many years old!).

Ah FarCry, I remember buying my X850XT and installing this and being in awe of the graphics and scale of the place. Typical Crytek :D. One day I'll give it a good playthrough again- never tried it with mods, looks like theres some great ones out there though.

I just finished this play thru yesterday.

What a fantastic game....20 levels, a nice long game with almost every level being as fun as the last, with maybe just a couple exceptions.

No "consolitis" in this game.

It was a real treat to play thru it again......I wish there were more games like it.

I can not believe there are many people who have not played FarCry, but if for some reason you have not....then by all means get on e-bay and buy yourself a copy and play this master piece.

You can get a copy off e-bay for under $10 usually.

May have to pick this up. I was checking the game out on steam and the screenshots they have of it are horrendous. Looks so ugly, but the ones you've been posting have made me want to buy the game now.

The game still looks great for being almost 7 years old, and the fun factor is out of this world.

I think you will like it alot.

Yeah all the press for Far Cry 2 before it was released had me so excited. I then got to play one of the prettiest and least fun games of all time. If they would have just ditched the endless respawning enemies at check points the extreme amounts of driving would have been a lot less tedious.

Yeah, that and that other vehicles could drive several times as fast as your car stuck in first gear, so you couldn't avoid a single fight. And uh, the really short game... load... distance? I set IEDs on objectives I had to blow up and ran away and blew them. You hear the explosion in the distance, but it doesn't effect anything. Gotta go back to the gun store, get new IEDs, and then go blow it up while you're standing within 50 feet of the thing. I can't talk about any of the other things in this game, it offends me.

Just hearing somebody say FarCry1 doesn't have "consolitis" makes me want to buy it in a box instead of off Steam, just so that I can cuddle with the box. Multi-platform games raped my dog and burned my house down.

I agree 100%.....This game warrants the boxed edition.

not to mention stupid quests; painful retracking (not just once or twice but constantly), dumb down mechanics (in farcry you could sneak; hide; go in blazing guns; ...). In fact I'm not sure there was an ounce of goodness in farcry 2. Lousy publisher took the good name of a game and put it on junk.

I do wish there was a 'real' farcry 2. I know crysis is by the same developer but at least for me in SP mode I prefer farcry >>>> crysis. Something about the mechanics and maps (farcry story might have been lame but the maps were great).

I bought it on GoG for $9.99, and for that I got a non-DRM installer that I can put on any computer I want. (I tested it out by putting it on a DVD, and installing it on my roommates computer.)

It is a fun game, although slightly dated.
