Yes clearly everyone that was in the party and supporting Jean Marie has left and they now have a totally different membership. o_O

Actually they do now. They went from 5% to 30% under new leadership. No one said everyone left.

It's not a one time spike just because of the Paris attacks either. Read up on it and you can see the party has been gaining significance steadily in the last few years.

So still full of the same racists as it used to be then?

Plus some new other racists?

And a load of non racists because they always love joining parties that are already full of racists and run by racists?

Yes. The far right has been gaining a lot of ground in the past few years in Europe. Also the far left.

Thats what happens in times of economic troubles.

Your ability to excuse anyone on the left for anything, for any reason is unparalleled.

Begin from factual premises to make a better argument. Reality says that the French Govt was not socialist from 1995 to 2012. Deal with it.

No what I'm asking is like saying "Did everyone that support the party up till a few years ago not agree with Jean Marie or have they all had a spontaneous change of heart now that they have a new leader (who coincidentally also has been to court on racist charges)".

I thought you said you knew something about this?

Why don't you try reading about it if you don't actually know?

Of course their party has changed in the last few years.

They went from 6.3% of their European Parliament in 2009 to 24.8% in 2014. They've had similarly significant gains - usually 3-4x increases - in other areas.

The party's ideology has been broadly described by scholars such as Shields as authoritarian, nationalist, and populist.[164] The FN has changed considerably since its foundation, as it has pursued the principles of modernisation and pragmatism, adapting to the changing political climate.[165][166] At the same time, its message has increasingly influenced mainstream political parties,[166][167] although the FN too has moved somewhat closer towards the centre-right.[168] While some have denounced its policies as "fascist", some features that are integral to historical (and generic) fascism are absent in the party and others are prominent.[164]

Clearly they didn't do anything in those three years to hang on to it.

Yeah. Totally.

Yes they are doing well. I'm not sure why you keep posting that. Thats what the thread is about.

You've asked why I think they are racist. I've answered that all their leaders have been to court on racist charges and that all the members I've spoken to have been fairly open about being racist and that historically the party has been openly racist.

Now its totally up to you what you think about them but thats my first hand impressions of them.

Remember its not just the left that are worried about them its the centre right that are unhappy about this as well. When they consider joining up with the Socialists just to keep the FN out then maybe, just maybe, you have to admit that that the FN may be a bit 'dodgy'?

Out of interest whats your connection to them?

Edit: You should probably have left that bit about Fascism out of your quote TBH. When your defense is "Well they are only a little bit Fascist" then its probably time to reevaluate.
