Far Cry 3: Anyone else excited?

Sigh, I tried to like it...I really did.

FarCry 1 was pretty cool from what I remember...

FarCry 2? Horrible story, I hate African accents, and the AI/respawning guard posts were fucking retarded. The most fun thing was probably the fire physics.

FarCry3 (aka FarCry 2.1) Just seems like Farcry 2 on a tropical island. Story doesn't entice me, AI is still as dumb...but damn they are accurate. Meh...

Wtf is wrong with new releases recently?

FC3 is fine. It's much more than FC2 and if you actually play through it and pay attention to detail it will be clear.

I have actually enjoyed FC3. I do not think it is comparable to FC2.

The AI is not spectacular, but its good enough to make it fun. And I REALLY love using the bow

Finally started FC3 this weekend. It's not perfect, but there's a lot to like for sure. The island itself is really well put together, lots to see and different ways to traverse it. I like the characters/dialogue/voice acting as well; at least for the major characters. The generic villagers/rakyat/thugs are pretty mediocre.

I think the allure of some of the mini-games/activities wears off pretty fast though; I was practically done hunting after just a few hours into the game and there's no way I'll bother gathering all the relics at least. I'm still enjoying clearing outposts and climbing radio towers though, I can definitely see myself doing all of them.

AI is not particularly good and playing stealthy/using silenced weapons is practically too good to pass up it seems. Especially since your health limit is pretty low for a long time and the enemies, while dumb, can at least shoot pretty well.

Overall quite glad I got it for christmas, but there's a lot of little touches that I think could have turned it from a "quite good" game into really a great game.

Game is great, but once the story missions were done, the game died instantly.

I feel like the story really ramps up and gets more intense once the focus shifts from your friends to "the bad guys". I get that's it's all part of the setup and that they're Jason's friends, 'not mine', but still it's hard to give much of a crap about some overprivileged richkids lol.

But once you start getting deeper into the Rakyat and going after Vaas + co, it's pretty great/crazy. Especially when you lose your equipment for a time.

I liked FC and played FC2. FC 2 was fun for me, but not as good as the original. FC3 looks promising and more like FC1. Will wait awhile to buy (as I usually do) but if the game is as good as advertised, will definitely get it.

I agree, Vaas was amazing. Definitely one of the more memorable villains in a game.

Vaas' role in the game ending about halfway through was surprising, given the game's marketing. But Hoyt's a mean son of a bitch too, he was a pretty worthy villain.

I feel like some of the 'twists' that came in the later part of the game were a little heavily foreshadowed, which kind of took away from their impact a bit. And I wish the 'good' ending had a bit more closure to it, though Jason's short monologue at the end is pretty clear.

Overall excellent game with few caveats.

Forgive me for not reading the first 15 pages completely, but after owning this game for 2 years I've finally got around to installing and playing it. I'm about 15 hours in and I'm quickly realizing how big this actually is. The gameplay has been fun, but I'm not sure that I'll be able to stick with it through completion.

Fun fact: Vaas was written into the game because of how impressed Ubi was with his audition. That likely explains why he isn't the main villain. They were willing to write him in and change a few story aspects, but they weren't going to change the entire story to revolve around him as a villain.

Well the clouds are static so they don't even move across the sky generally. Looks like FC4 may solve that with clouds that move like we're used to in the AC series, Shadow of Mordor, Skyrim and so on.. and yeah I know the thread got raised from the dead a few posts ago.

The one thing I'm really hating is the terrible, continuous, head movement. I had to crank my fov way up to avoid getting nauseous. The damn character must have a bobble head on.
