Just because you can do that, doesn't mean that's what you should necessarily be doing. These missions were the best part of the game for me, trying to sneak in and take all the guys out one by one without being detected or having bodies found, always leaving the leader until the end. Each missions was a new situation, new pattern to try and figure out the best way to do it. The bow and knife were pretty much the only weapons I used in this game, unless I screwed up and shit hit the fan.

I guess that's part of the reason I might enjoy games like this more than other people, I like to role play, and put limits on myself to get the most out of a game. Like you said, running in guns blazing and just blasting everybody gets repetitive. What you get out of a game depends on how you approach it.

Agreed

All of the weapons are quite powerful, so you can get the job done in any number of ways. If the game is getting repetitive, then quit going about things the same way. I do kind of wish those missions had different goals, like a knife kill was only one possibility but the next mission would be "kill the captain via fire" or "kill the captain with a shot to the head" etc.

The game was great at first but it got pretty repetitive. It became : Get to the radio tower, free the bases, do the same type of side missions associated with that base, repeat until you get bored and go back to the main story line.

In normal mode you can easily assault the enemy bases without worrying about stealth, you get so much xp throughout the game that taking it over undetected is not really worth it. And the bases are all pretty much the same except for a few different types of enemy classes and the animals trapped in the cage.

I really like the time trial side mission where you score as many points as possible (The grenades one was great) but the rest of the side missions are meh. The kill the dude with a knife ones are all the same, just gun down everyone besides the leader then run up and knife him. The ones involving the villagers are forgettable. The Hunting ones are all the same except for the required weapon needed.

I guess I am around halfway through, don't think I will finish the game.

i pretty much stopped playing a little bit into the second island. It seems like the same thing all over again, except the enemies now have bullet proof vests. woopdy doo

It is 100% the same except they can get helicopters if you're reckless enough to siege a base without stopping alarms. Oh, and sometimes flame throwers, but no big thing.

I've been killed more than once by a friendly jeep flying in after I take over a camp. One was when I was fighting the tiger I let loose and I guess they were trying to run it over or something. Regardless... They got me too as I went in to skin it.

The Deluxe Bundle is a 108 KB unlock key that includes the Warrior Pack (Amazon), Lost Expeditions Pack (Best Buy), Monkey Business Pack (GameStop) and Predator Pack (Walmart). All four packs came with the game's Europe-exclusive Insane Edition. In all, they add six single-player missions, four animals, a character, two single-player weapons, two multiplayer weapons and two end-of-match movies to Far Cry 3.

The Deluxe Bundle sells for $9.99 on Windows PC and PlayStation 3, and 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox 360.

It amazes me that no one has made a GOOD FPS dinosaur game. The Turok games way back in the day were only so so....and everything since then has been minimal.

I bet you bumped up the stats and gave it a reskin, a cassowary would make a passable JP velociraptor.

one thing i hate is the magnified scopes in this game. you can barely see through, so much dirt/whatever on them. and then forget about it if you are remotely facing the sun.

Ever dragged a scoped rifle through the brush and watch the moisture collect on it, dust and dirt and other grime kick up on it then try to line up a shot? Betcha it will have lots of stuff in the way of your clear vision. That's why they make scope covers and the game doesn't use em. Scopes also act as a magnifying glass for light. So if you are pointed toward the setting or rising sun on a hunt, you will have a tough time seeing through the glare.

yes i know it's realistic but whats the fucking point in the game if its worthless?

i get fucking shot at with multiple bullets and i inject myself with something to get better...not realistic
i get mauled by bears and tigers and just slash them with my knife and i survive...not realistic
I inject myself with drugs and can see where animals are through trees and hills....not realistic
so much shit in this game is not realistic...so why make the scopes realistic and worthless?

It's a common excuse when people love a game too much to admit its flaws. That "but, but, but... it's realistic!" excuse needs to end. Games are meant to be FUN, and real life sucks. That's why we're playing games in the first place.

Um...you know that games actually DO strive to keep some things realistic like lighting, textures, the way the environment interacts with characters and objects etc.

Go make your own game if you want perfect vision everywhere. If you used the scope and stared at the sun and was NOT blinded I bet people would bitch about that too.

The scopes aren't worthless, maybe you just have shitty eyes and suck at the game? I had absolutely zero issues seeing what I was shooting at and hitting my target.

You should go back and read some usernames again, because I'm not the person who had problems using the scopes. I'm just agreeing with the point that realism doesn't always mean it was a good decision for a game.

I do have a problem with how the scopes work with some of the lighting though. If you're in a cave where your flashlight comes on and you use your scope, it's almost unusable because of the light being reflected from the "realistic" scope face. Problem is, that's not realistic because the flashlight shouldn't be anywhere near the eyepiece. Since this is an FPS though, the flashlight source is actually behind the scope eyepiece and there's nothing blocking the light (like a real head) so it's a silly problem to have.

I didn't realize this came out. Loved the original Far Cry, never played Far Cry 2. Does anybody play this on an HD5770? Three year old graphics card still chugging along...

I also have a 2500k at 4GHz and 1920x1200 monitor.

Yea, you'll be fine. It was released on consoles too, so the game has texture sets that seem to work with lower memory systems.

This game is amazing, I haven't had this much fun in an open world game since Grand Theft Auto Vice City.

I'm doing all the side missions and quests as well as taking over enemy bases. I do all of them without being detected so I bank 1500 XP per capture.

Sigh, I tried to like it...I really did.

FarCry 1 was pretty cool from what I remember...

FarCry 2? Horrible story, I hate African accents, and the AI/respawning guard posts were fucking retarded. The most fun thing was probably the fire physics.

FarCry3 (aka FarCry 2.1) Just seems like Farcry 2 on a tropical island. Story doesn't entice me, AI is still as dumb...but damn they are accurate. Meh...

Wtf is wrong with new releases recently? :(
