Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer

I think I'm going to go see this tonight. The only thing that bothers me that I just found out is that the movie is only 89 minutes long.

For an action movie based off of a comic book, that seems pretty damn weak. Usually comedies or horror movies are that short, not summer "blockbuster" movies.

The first one was just okay, but I have an urge to see this one in the theatre.

Anyone else seeing it?

No. It looks absolutely HORRIBLE, and Fox has been promoting it as if they're trying to hide the fact that they KNOW it's horrible.

naa. i will wait until it is on DVD.

it does not look good enough to go put up with the lines, pay $8 to see etc.

I didn't care for the first one so probably not.

So far, Transformers is the best thing I've seen this summer.

Yah I'm actually contemplating seeing Knocked Up instead. I know it's a hilarious movie and there will be no crowds in that theatre.

They even advertised the movie on an episode of Pimp My Ride. I knew it'd be an advertisement once I saw the nerdy kid had F4 action figures in his car. Oddly enough he was missing Jessica Alba... 😛.

The first one sucked. I would have to hear extremely positive word-of-mouth from friends I trust before I would even rent this one.

I haven't seen the first, but have seen reports from a few that have glimpsed it and heard "dog".

After reading the big soiler for the final confrontation, there is no way I'd go see that piece of garbage.

Taking my son to see it tonight. We watched the original this week and I was 'meh' but it's about on the level of what a kid would enjoy.

Silver Surfer alone should make it worth it from what I've heard.

Nope...I don't really go on opening nights/weekends anyway..

sucks though--silver surfer was one of the better written superhero comic books back when I was into that sort of thing. I can only imagine that this interpretation is pure mung.
Is Galactus supposed to be in this or what? Is that the "big spoiler?"

I also didn't realize it was rated PG until last night.

Yah I really think I'm going to see Knocked Up instead.

I'm still not entirely clear on why the first one was PG-13. Maybe because of snowboarding scene with Johnny and Alba taking her clothes off while invisible. <shrug>

just got back from it...

I was entertained by all the silver surfer special effects....those were enough to see the film.

the story was lacking as they did not explain the back story of the link between silver surfer and galactus. the ending climax wasn't that great either, but overall, I enjoyed the special effects.

Despite the first one being quite bad...I don't mind wasting a little money and hanging out with my friends. Our weekly thing aside from partying is movies...I'm a huge film buff, so it's nice to have a mindless break every now and then. 😛

Seeing it tonight around 11.

Just got back from seeing this with my son.

Miles better than the first movie but still not a great movie. It's an OK movie especially for being only 90 minutes long. The Silver Surfer was awesome. I wish there could have been more of him as a good 1/3-1/2 of what you see of him in the commercials is what you see in the movie.

I won't give away the ending except to say that it isn't the most satisfying.

Still, I thought it was the Fantastic 4 at heart. The first movie was the 'origin story' (why can't we just skip these?) about how they got their powers. This movie is about them dealing with their celebrity status, the trappings that go with it, while trying to save the world. Very much like the comics. There's still Reed and Sue bickering, Johnny and Ben picking at each other but them still being there for each other.

My only annoyance with the movie is the actress that plays Aleesha (the blind girl). I know she's acting blind but the facial ticks...c'mon!
