the fantastic four just don't really have any compelling stories to tell, and Doctor Doom is quite possibly one of the lamest villians ever created in the marvel universe.

qft..

i think Marvel trying to cash in on the superhero craze a little too much.. instead of concentrating on putting out a few pretty good ones, they're content with a couple of decent ones (xmen 2, spiderman2) and a slew of crud(punisher (2 of them), fantastic 4, Spawn movies (or were the indies?), Blade 2 & 3).

they need to watch out or they're going to end up like DC's batman who fights villains who use neon lighted machine guns.

Spawn isn't affiliated with Marvel. But yeah, that one sucked too.

I'm going just to support Michael Chiklis. That man is a cold stone badass on The Shield and I'd expect him to kick just as much ass here.

Fvck RT. I go by the opposite of what RT says with 75% of movies I see. Critics don't relate to the common man.

 They gave The Punisher a 28% and I thought that movie was great.

I don't give 2 sh!ts what critics have to say about a movie really (Lost in Translation anyone?) I'll go and see the movies that interest me and judge them for myself.

I was going to say the same thing. The Punisher I thought was a pretty good comic book flick. Hell, the beginning of the movie where they kill off his entire family had me so wound up and pissed thinking about that happening to me, that it was worth the price of admission right there. Kicking John Travolta's ass never hurts a movie as far as I'm concerned. :D

Oh, and things aren't looking good for X-men3 either since Bryan Singer left for Superman Returns. According to AintItCoolNews, the studio bigwigs and writers are screwing it up nicely.

I'm suprised they haven't made a movie for Teen Titans or The Outsiders yet.

I think they could both make pretty good movies.

Walking Dead, I think, would also make a great movie (if it ever reached some sort of plot climax).

They're supposed to be making a movie about the Watchmen. Should be interesting to see how that turns out.

That's too bad..

I like Julian McMahon, so I was hoping the movie would do well if not just for his sake, lol.

In fact, "Fantastic Four" might be the first superhero movie which has a "passing time because we're bored" montage
Ouch! Did they really :music: need a montage :music: ?

Sounds like another one to wait for the DVD from netflix.

Lots and lots of problems with it. Terry Gilliam was supposed to direct it over 10yrs ago- Paramount invested a ton of money into it and they just dropped it.

Now any studio that picks up Watchmen not only has to start from scratch, but has to pay Paramount every single penny they already dumped into it. We probably won't ever be seeing this one come to fruition.

As for Tom Cruise- this is really shows his true colors.

IMDB says Watchmen is in production with a tenative 2006 release date. Sounds like they are still working on the script though since no actors have been cast.

Watchmenmovie.com is gone.

Ahh you're right. I missed this bit of news.
Paramount has pulled the plug on its proposed film version of Watchmen, Alan Moore's celebrated superhero graphic novel, Variety reported. Producers Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin were taking the project, with British director Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy) attached, out to other studios, the trade paper reported.

Watchmen came under heavy scrutiny in the wake of Paramount chief Brad Grey's surprise move to replace Donald De Line with Gail Berman as studio president in late March, the trade paper reported. De Line found out about the change while in London meeting with Greengrass about Watchmen and the need to cut its budget, rumored to be $100 million, the trade paper reported.

Paramount had been aiming for a summer start, but began releasing crews working on preproduction at that point.

Damn shame.

As I said in the other thead...

I'd like to know who thought it was a good idea to give this one to a guy whose prior work as a director is Barbershop and Taxi...

Hey, they keep giving Uwe Boll (House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark) money to make horrendous movies based off of video games. Clearly, Hollywood is filled with people who haven't a clue on how to spend their money.

It is now at 14%.

I guess now they are running out of comic franchises to ruin, maybe now they can start ruining some video game franchises. Ie Doom3 with the rock
