Fan-Cooled Mice

Are these things worth it, or are they just a gimmick? I am going to buy a mouse for gaming: optical, wireless, ball, fan-cooled? what is my best bet?

I've never had a problem with my mouses being too hot, or sweating on it or anything... but I can't imagine a fan in a mouse being big enough to push enough air to notice any temperature difference on the shell, or having enough available air to push around in the first place.

Now, the area over the hard drive and battery of a laptop where the heals of your hands go... those puppies get drenched in sweat. I'd like to see some type of ventilation with that.

If there WAS a vent over the fan near the palm area of the mouse, and you could feel it, I wonder if maybe it would become annoying after a while? Or if the motor would make the mouse too heavy for gaming?

Nice. 😎

IMO, fan cooled mice = gimmick you don't need. They add noise and add nothing.

Think of this: Your PC has rear fans, right? Cover one w/your hand. How much air comes out? None.

Your mouse has a fan. Cover the holes w/your hand (duh, how else are you supposed to use it?) Now, how much air comes out?

Duh.

if you sweat that much there are usb external fans that u can point anywhere. some as low as about 5 bux. 20 bux gets u ones with bendy stands and stuff. think my cheapie is a speeze

I usually just spread a thin layer of artic silver 3 over my mouse. This way any heat from my hand gets disapated by the mouse.

whoa, i have the same problem, except the exact opposite : my right fingers get icy cold even in summer if AC is on. i always wished they had a built-in heater on a mouse 😱

mice typically use 20-150mA. mA. Until all the circuitry inside it is within the size of a pinhead, it won't need cooling, and then passive would be fine.

Don't know about watercooling a mouse, but I am using watercool to cool my printer though. I've OC'ed my printer by 33%, it now prints 13 pages per minute instead of 10!!!!!

To complete the set, get a spoiler for your keyboard and Type-R sticker for the monitor (or maybe mod it to R-Type if it's vintage).

Hmm, how are you guys able to do this? I couldn't find any overclocking utils for mouse or printer. I wish my mouse had more dpi too..
Any suggestions. greatly appreciated it thianks

NUH UH!!!! I don't think that's what it's for!!!

The fan in the mouse is to cool your hand, not the mouse - but I doubt it works very well...

Duh x2. We all get that. I will offer to repair the sarcasm meters for people who missed it (and if you did miss the sarcasm oozing from this thread even without your meter, something else is amiss here...)
