The problem with most stereotypes is they're usually true. Granted, you'll _always_ be able to find exceptions, but anywhere from 50-99% of the time the stereotype will be accurate.

Stereotype 1: African-American people immerse themselves in "hip-hop" culture

Stereotype 2: (First Generation) Mexican immigrants work hard but don't speak english well.

Stereotype 3: (First Generation) Indian immigrants hold high-tech jobs, but live in crowded apartments and have an offensive odour.

Now if you allow these stereotypes to influence your opinion of people, then you're a fool. However, all of these stereotypes are accurate for >50% of the cases. You get into trouble when you apply these stereotypes over 100% of the population.

And them damnable toddlers just can't hold off on the groovin'...

I'd like to see ANY sort of evidence backing up that 50% statement. Yes, stereotypes are often-times based (albeit far-fetchedly...very, very far-fetchedly) in some sort of demented fact. But they are not scientific, are not good generalizations, and for the most part are demeaning..at least when dealing with race.

Britney having fake boobs is an assumption, not a stereotype.

I'll rephrase that to
"All of britneys breasts are fake."

I know a lot of people still believe the idiotic azn stereotypes... uneducated people mostly... like Latinos & blacks from poor urban areas. That's a stereotype in and of itself... but according the those that live there and worked their way upward... it's sadly true.

What did Abe Simpson say on that one episode of The Simpsons? He was writing a letter to a tv show about how they were portraying older people as sex-crazed perverts. I guess that could be the "dirty old man" stereotype, which originated from the behavior of my grandpa, a sex-crazed pervert. :p
