Fallout 4 is really coming

a FPS taking place in a real-world school feels like it has the potentially to go horribly wrong should there ever be (god forbid) a school shooting in MIT.

I so want to get this for a console, but last time I tried that it was a huge mistake. The load times are so ridiculous, it just makes way more sense to get it on my PC.

OH, and I will definitely be buying this so I just gotta pick.

Currrent gen and pc only, there is supposed to be a trailer up today

Not sure if these are real, they are not impressive

They really have an outdated engine. The character models look pathetic and the dog had flat textured hair.

Yup doesn't look graphically good at all. I'm sure it's the same engine they've been using since forever. I'm sure it'll be great to play but I was hoping a bump graphically because none of the Fallout or Elder Scroll games have been good looking games. Always low rez textures.

In watching the trailer, the part with the dog looks like a completely different game than the rest in terms of graphics. Maybe it's an old build? Or it's part of a 'flashback' intro.

Wait until you see the man pet the dog and they show his face for a second. It's hideously bad.

I was also disappointed by the graphics. They reminded me of an upgraded pc port of a ps3/xbox 360 game. I wasn't really excited for the announcement since the rumor has been going on well over two years that FO4 is being made and it will be set in Boston. And that's exactly what the announcement said, nothing much more than that. Maybe if it had been announced in 2013 I would be more excited but I think Bethesda took too long to officially announce it. The most interesting thing for me in the trailer was that the protagonist actually seems to have a voice actor.

Are the graphics really bad, or is Bethesda just not engaging in the practice of putting out overly polished visuals that end up being nowhere near as good as the final product (Watch Dogs, Forza, etc.)?

It looks more like an old engine holding back the graphics rather than bad graphics itself. I don't think any company would want to put out footage of a game that wouldn't showcase the best possible graphics available.

They're bad because their engine is old and doesn't stand up to other games out there. The only hope is a mod community on PC that puts 4k textures and the like in there.

This is one of those games were I don't give a fuck about the graphics. The game play is amazing in the fallout games.

For the time fallout 3 was not a bad looking game maxed out on PC. I must of put close to 500 hours into that game easily

I don't have a gaming pc anymore, so I'll need to see what the difference is between ps4 and xbone to decide what version to get. I did however already pay the game off at gamestop for ps4 already but I can always switch it to xbone if it looks better

Really hope that they do not use too much memory on graphics and focus on gameplay and persistence of world.
Something like information propagation with proper persistent AI would be great.. (would cost plenty of memory and CPU power, but would allow some very interesting things..)
