Despite some "Negative" press about this game from some euro sources, and the whole Oblivion with guns thing.... I think this is going to be at least an enjoyable experience, especially with the Mod community.

I replayed Fallout 2 a couple months ago in anticipation. Good stuff.

I'm going to wait on this game, as much as I loved the first two, I need to hear and see some good things before I plunk down some cash on this one.

I know I'll get it eventually regardless. I'm hoping to hold out until the first couple of patches + mod tools are released, but I don't know.

Same goes for me. I still have Crysis Warhead, Far Cry 2, and a host of other older games I still want to play through. No time.

i love rpgs but I tried playing the first game and couldnt get into it...maybe cause its really outdated and its hard to get into an older game unless you played it before. I still really want to play the 3rd one but I'm not sure if Ill be missing something

Does anyone know the differences between the Steam version and retail? Would I be able to download/play mods if I get the Steam version?

You should be able to, but there is no real point to getting the steam version unless you really dont want to go buy it at the store since they are both the same price.

I just have too many boxed games (360, PS3, PC) occupying tons of space in my house... it would be convenient to just download it. If I can play mods through Steam then that's the version I'll buy.

I've never had a problem modding Steam games. All Steam does is install the game in a subfolder of the Steam folder and keep it patched with the latest official patch. Other than that, it's the same installation (correct me if I'm wrong?). I modded Vampire The Masquerades Bloodlines pretty heavily with user made patches and never had a problem with it being the Steam version.

the point would be to not have to worry about losing the cd and you don't have a box to throw away or take up space. You can also always redownlaod it later if you want to (and even on another PC anywhere in the world, as long as you have steam installed on that PC).

Well its getting 9+ s on most reviews IGNs was a 9.6 calling it extraordinary.

This is a must buy.

gonna have to ignore this game for a little while... despite the nay sayers, I'm having plenty of fun causing havoc in Far Cry 2, and I still have Dead Space waiting. Have to put this one in the queue though.

This is why I love Steam. No more worrying about lost/scratched discs or keeping track of CD keys.

Cant you do that with any game that you can buy in stores that are offered off of steam if you register it it with Valve? I know thats the way all my old games work (HL 1 and 2)

I'm getting it just for the fact it's one of the few "big" games being released (at least that I care about) that doesn't have troublesome DRM. I can live with a simple CD check.

Going to pick it up after work. Could have saved $9 on Futureshop yesterday, but you had to ship and I didn't want to wait.

Going for the CE edition, just for the hell of it. Lunch box and bobblehead ain't bad.

The atmosphere (as it is created by sounds and interactions) reminds me alot of Bioshock, with the 50's music/commercials etc. That being said, if it comes anywhere near Bioshock in gameplay/story then it's going to be epic.

Played through the first hour and half last night and had a blast (had to quit so I wouldnt be dead-a@@ tired at work today).

The graphics definitely look good (not Crysis or anything) but the game looks and feels very good. I enjoyed the way it let you create your skills, temperment choices, and abilities through interaction, tests (in-game "exams") and old-fashioned skill allottment.

The real test will be today when I get to roam and check out the actual combat and enviornment. Definitely liking it so far. :)

The videos I've seen don't always show FPS style combat. Do you have the option for FPS style or 3rd person like Oblivion?

Anything short of 9.9 from modern reviewers is pretty lackluster imo. Heck even perfect 10s wouldn't impress me nowadays.

IGN reviews are completely worthless IMO. Didn't an insider in that company leak that they were paid by publishers to give good reviews on games?
