Fallout 3 -- Thinking of picking it up

Superb game. Small arms crank it up first and then repair.

Don't bother with computer, instead go for lock picking.

Also DO NOT bother with big guns, it is crap and they are useless. Always use VATS.

Fallout 3 is my favorite PC game ever.

An absolutely marvelous gaming experience. And the scene when you first step out of the vault into the capital wasteland might be the most WOW moment Ive had in all of gaming.

I remember the name of the gun now.. the Rock it launcher. I really liked the Shishkabob and that mini chainsaw for melee as well...funny ass weapons.

Ah, the best one is the Railroad Rifle. If you get a headshot kill, their head will fly off and get nailed to the nearest wall. Cheating in the PC version to get unlimited ammo makes it fun. ;D

I also liked the cheery whistle as you fired 🙂

FYI, different NPCs will use or ignore different weapons that you give them. The RR will be used by
the Brotherhood woman

Oh yah. That thing was great against those super mutants. The alien pistol was awesome as well. They just turn into dust with one shot, and you can still loot the dust... hahahaha.

How about the "man opener" auto chainsaw from the PITT.....gotta love the names of some of the weapons.

Why do RPGs this generation have to have bad graphics? I want a game with Far Cry 2 or Uncharted graphics but as an RPG.

Comprehension is completely unnecessary if you have the GotY edition and plan to hunt for all (or most) of the books.

@Sadaiyappan: Really? I think this game, despite it's post-apocolyptic settings, looks really good (most of the time)--especially on a highend PC. Mass Effect 2, Oblivion, Risen, FFXIII, all look good to me, again, especially on a PC.

@Beev: its a fair point, I forgot about the expansions. But just for Fallout 3 proper it's a big benefit.

I bought it used, should've rented first. It's slow and boring compared to a true FPS. I liked GEARS, Call of Duty games and no Resistance WAY better as you get action all the time and can just play for 20 minutes or so and get something accomplished in the game.

If you have 10 hours a week available then maybe it would be worth playing otherwise, meh!

anyone else playing through this right now?

i've been messing around a bit.........

made it to Tenpenny towers last night. the bomb in Megaton is rigged, I have to talk to some Burke guy. Making it from Megaton to Tenpenny wasn't as easy as just running through the wasteland..... I had to be fairly covert. Killed a bunch of rats on the way.

Cool game. I love the VATS combat system, very interesting.

I'm not playing it right now, but if you keep updating this thread like a blogpost with your thoughts and experiences you're likely to temp some of us to play through it (again).

Seriously love this game.

Oh...taking the evil route 😉

Great game...I'm so hooked on MW2 though...even with all of the hacks.

This game doesn't look good at all. It's ugly to look at.
