Fallon is a better late night host than Conan will ever be.

Conan on Late Night was the best. He lost something when he went to TBS, I never watch it now. The times I tried to watch it, I didn't find anything funny. Same thing happened to Letterman, too. Something about the 1230 spot that makes people funny. But I have never watched an episode of Fallon. I know his stick from SNL, not really interested in him.

It's more about the intellectual properties they're not allowed to bring with them.

1230 is the little brother weirdo slot.

Actually, what a lot of these hosts are missing is pure masculinity. Like, I imagine Jon Hamm would actually do really well as a late night show host.

Conan on his old slot at 12:30am was the best

Darker set in NY with a cult following

Now on a brighter set in LA trying to appeal to the mainstream seems like a sellout.

The LA culture isn't as edgy as NYC either. NYC is more in-your-face "up yours!", LA is more "look how good looking I am at all times".

I don't watch Conan a lot, but it doesn't exactly seem like TBS is censoring him much. He seems to pretty much do what he wants.

The 'not watching' kind of stems from him needing better writers and better guests.

Fallon is not funny. He is an awkward pause that started like ten years ago and won't go away.

craig ferguson > all

ferguson is the new conan.

conan back in the day, like the late 90's was hysterical. I remember countless nights up to like 2 in the morning just dying for breath because that guy was just insane.

but the leno thing took his soul away. he got it back a little, but he is a shell of himself. its pretty sad. I love the guy though, he didn't deserve what happened to him.

fallon is a dumbass. what else is there to say. he can barely talk. I think he is the perfect replacement for leno. 300 lbs added on and you wouldn't tell the difference between the two.

except fallon can sing/dance/is likable.

I absolutely couldn't stand this sissy little kid Fallon in SNL. His slight effeminacy and dry humor always rubbed me the wrong way.

But Fallon grew into his show very well. He & The Roots absolutely rock.

I used to be a HUGE fan of Conan, but he just feels bit too scripted, especially lame banter between Andy Rickter.

Fallon > Conan > Kimmel >>>>>>> Leno > Letterman

I think Fallon is pretty good too, he was pretty terrible at first, but he's come a long way, and he has a good vibe/energy to him that makes him a great host. Conan is good, but a little too quirky to be mainstream like Carson/Leno. Letterman and Kimmel both seem like total dicks to me, and I don't get their appeal at all. Leno isn't that funny, but he's affable and a fairly good host in most respects. I think Fallon will be a legit replacement for him that can manage the show well, Leno should enjoy his retirement and get back to the occasional standup if he feels like it. Conan should keep being Conan, he's at his best when he's not trying to change (his normalized presence on the Tonight Show for the first few weeks was awful). And Letterman and Kimmel can continue to be dickheads, that's what they do, and some people like it.

That sir is pure truth.

Fallon is terrible (and he was terrible in SNL too). The only cool thing he ever did was History with Rap, but that's more Justin than him.

why is that more Justin than Fallon? Do you actually think that Justin T's exploits on SNL are more Justin than Sandberg+ the SNL writing team? I assure you, Timberlake has nothing to do with that.

Do you discount the years of Fallon making musicla montages and bits his primary schtick? what about all of the other stuff he does with musical guests that aren't Justin Timberlake? do you think Timberlake shows up to write these bits?

wait...are you also under the assumption that Timberlake writes his own songs? :hmm:

As far as History of Rap bits go..it is completely obvious that this stuff is arranged by Quest Love, with notes by Jimmy if anything. Justin is asked to perform with him.

Since I haven't been able to stand watching him since his SNL days, has Fallon ever figured out how to deliver a line without looking at the camera, stuttering and laughing?

I pretty much hated him on SNL.

He's prefect for this format, though. yes, it took me a year of barely watching his show to warm up to it--not that I really watch any late night these days, but it's certainly a good show.

Carson was before my time but I agree, nobody could beat him. He's the kind of guy who could make you laugh, kick your ass, or fuck your girlfriend.. that's a rare combination.

or any combination of them in any order.

The Roots have sucked for over a decade, so nothing for me there.

The Roots have never sucked, and the easiest thing to point out is the album Game Theory to disprove your theory. Unless of course you are a Little Wayne/Rhinna fan...

The only thing the Roots have ever done that was suprising, was being Jimmy Fallon's band. They have talked about being upset with the current state of rap and show business, but to go mainstream?

I will be highly suprised if the Roots come with Fallon. I don't know if 50-something America is ready for a rap band, even if they are all talented musicians.

just one more reason why Fallon is the GOAT
