Nothing recent but looks like a shift this year:

6-10-2008 "Countdown" Beats "O'Reilly Factor" In Ratings Demo For First Time Ever

MSNBC's "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" beat Fox News' "The O'Reilly Factor" in the key Adults 25-54 demographic for the first time ever last week.

"Countdown" averaged 477,000 viewers (A25-54) vs. O'Reilly's 472,000 (excluding Tuesday's primary coverage). This marks the first time that MSNBC has beaten Fox News in O'Reilly's 8pm time slot since June 2001.

Really? This is all you have, a slanted article from the Huffington post?

So your proof that Oreilly is falling is ONE week (at the end of the Democratic primary where both CNN and MSNBC surged in viewership for obvious reasons) that Olbermann beat Oreilly in ONE Democraphic with Oreilly have a guest host one of those nights. Nevermind that Bill still killed Olbermann in overall ratings for that week......

But even if we completely ignore the facts like you are so fond of doing, it was just ONE week, hardly a fall.

Here's everything that you ignored..Text

MSNBC?s ?Countdown With Keith Olbermann? achieved its first ratings victory ever over Fox News? ?The O?Reilly Factor? in the week of the final Democratic primary.

Olbermann?s show averaged 477,000 viewers in the key 25-54 demo, beating the 472,000 for the Bill O?Reilly show in the week ended Sunday.

Though Laura Ingraham subbed for O?Reilly last Friday, the lowest-rated night (379,000 demo viewers for Fox News) in the truncated four-day strip, MSNBC spokespeople noted that ?The O?Reilly Factor? had always previously won out over Olbermann -- even when Ingraham had subbed for the entire week.

Like MSNBC as a whole, the left-leaning Olbermann benefited from increased attention on the exhausting final act of the Democratic primary season: During the week of June 2-8, MSNBC surged to an average of 408,000 adults 25-54 from a week-earlier 262,000, while CNN jumped even more, to 490,000 from 258,000.

Fox got a smaller boost in the demo (to 374,000 from 316,000) but stays perched at No. 5 in total day (1.7 million viewers vs. CNN?s 1.42 million and MSNBC?s 1.25 million) due to an overall older skew.

"Factor" still had a significant edge over "Countdown" in viewers last week, averaging 2.5 million over the four-day period to "Countdown's" 1.3 million.

Bill O'Reilly is pretty consistently ahead of his liberal counterpart in both total viewership and nearly every demographic and Fox News overall has more than twice as many viewers as MSNBC.

I like Rush a lot better than Bill. Rush seems like a fat jovial dude who only believes about 1/10th of what he says while Bill strikes me as downright mean-spirited and evil. Hannity is another from the dark side.

Its a shame, the railing he gave that fat fucking stupid disgrace Barney Frank was priceless, from the OP and ignoring the horrible spelling, it seems he will devote more towards TV now...so the title is just a bit misleading.

That's where most make mistakes by ignoring them, which makes dumb people believe they are not.

I don't care how it happens.

You are such a cry baby. I mean I hate conservative talk radio, I had an internship in Texas and my officemate always had that junk on. But good lord man tell us where the bad conservativeman touched you. OH BOOHOOO they are saying something I don't like lets get them kicked off talk radio. It's called freedom of speach, please refer to the constitution, or since that might be too complicated just tune to a different station.

As liberals we don't like conservatives telling us what to do with religion/abortion/etc. and here you are being so two-faced about a fundamental constitutional right of freedom of speech. Grow up and get over it.

Welcome to DaveLand.

Dave lost his compass reading out of the forest long ago, and he thinks the movements of the Sun are a carefully planned right wing conspiracy.

Dave's purpose here is to remind us that ideological idiocy is not exclusively a right or left thing, and looks equally as stupid in any form.

People fall off all different parts of their absurdly flat earth, slipping into the endless cosmic void.

Yet they keep posting.

Well everyone has a right to an opinion, I some what agree with Zebo on Bill, but I sure find nothing jovial about about Rush.

But in a thread about the fairness doctrine, I thought I would throw in this dated link.

http://www.fair.org/index.php?page=2053

After all, these are the public airwaves, its use is limited, and we already regulate television and radio in terms of profanity and the like.

But unlike the now repealed fairness doctrine, government has a far more powerful
tool it can use to either fairly regulate or censor, somewhat in the eyes of the beholder, and that is the ability to decline to renew the license of those stations that fail to operate in the public interest. And that too may motivate Mr. Murdock into casting out his less that fair and balanced commentators. Because when the Fox license goes up for renewal, you can bet a large number of non governmental
public interests groups are going to petition the FCC against renewal. And there best arguments will be selected tapes of O'Reilly, Hannity et all not acting in the public interest, fracturing all logic in the process, and in some cases, flat out telling lies to the American people.

And in fact, the government censorship argument can be used against Fox, because it is suspected as being in cahoots with the GWB administration, and
the so called GOP talking points were openly disseminated weekly by Fox and
others on the radio. And there is something scary about government owning the
means of mass communication, directly, or indirectly. And that goes to the heart of any free press and freedom of speech arguments.

As for Rush himself, he has no future in television, he had a spot as a sports commentator that did not last long, when he injected his own anti black bigotry
against a certain quarterback, the networks dropped him like a hot potato. Rush
can always appeal to a maybe 7% niche audience, but he will never meet the fat jovial likable universal appeal sniff test. Like Bill, there is something mean spirited knee jerk biased element in Rush that will always deny him a larger niche audience.
To too large an extent, Rush actually believes the stuff he says.

I would probably say the main reason is because Oreilly's tv show has grown so much in popularity it is taking away his ability to do both. Plus he makes millions a year from the tv show and writing books. He doesn't really need to do radio anymore.

I don't care how it happens.

So in other words, you define "fairness" as "I am the supreme authority".

Show me the other side from 2001 to 2008.

There is no Robert Murdock for America.

There is only a Robert Murdock and Crap Channel for the rich Republican eleitists hell bent on destroying America.

Thank god real Americans have realized it and ow starting to take action against you and your kind.

It's a shame so many people have to fall to be able to get back up.

But back up they will get.

Back up against Murdock, Crap Channel, Anti-American Hannity, Blowhard Rush and your buds.

The revolution is at hand.

Factory workers have even taken up position in a building in Chicago as we speak.

People are banding together against the oppressive and anti-American rich that have sent the jobs overseas.

The people in that factory will continue to band together and fire up a factory of their own producing real Amercan product and the money staying here in America.

America and real Americans will prevail.

If you don't like which I'm sure you won't, you and the rest are free to leave.

Please do so as quickly as possible. Thank you.

Actually, the jobs are going overseas because your heroes believe that someone working in a factory should make what someone who works with their brain makes. So now instead of working for lower wages, they arent working at all.

Keep raising that minimum wage and giving into unions, and there wont be any lower-middle class jobs around. Why would I pay Bill in Cleveland $9/hr to make shoes, when I can pay Hasam in Indonesia $1/day?

A real American wouldn't tell other Americans to leave if they don't like how things are going in their country. You are one of the crappiest Americans on the entire board. Understanding of 1st amendment fail.

Just the opposite for me, Zebo. Bill has always struck me as a bully but I have come to see that he does have some intellectual gravitas, things he believes in and can articulate that are not simply pandering, rather than only being a media whore.

Whereas, what you see in Rush as likability I see as complete and utter manipulative, opportunistic cynicism. With Rush, there is no there there.

Rush is a pure pandering, media creation, demagogue. He's a person like Pluto is a planet. Pluto is more a conglomeration of cold gases. Rush is nothing but hot gas.

Rush is far more despicable, imho.

Why is it this thread looks like something you would see on Candid Camera, or some other hidden camera show? Post some very vague, desperate, deeply grasping link of someone ending a radio show and someone leaving a TV show to the conservatives "fearing" the fairness doctrine, title it "Fall of the Conservative Radio Talk show..", then watch and record as people try and figure out wtf you are trying to say.
First you have Colmes... Him leaving the FNC show "Hannity & Colmes" is completely irrelevant to your subject, conservative RADIO, the fairness doctrine, and, well, your entire post. IRRELEVANT.

Then you have O'Reilly leaving radio.. OK, at least he is on the radio. He specifically states his reason for leaving the radio, however. He cant dedicate time to both. Besides, something he wont say is his TV show clearly gets MUCH higher ratings than his not even in the top 10 radio show. His radio show isnt listened to by enough people to make it worth the time. But, his leaving radio has absolutely nothing to do with the fear of the fairness doctrine (unlikely it will even really ever get passed anyway), nor is it a sign of "Fall of the Conservative Radio Talk show..."

So, in the end, nothing has changed.
