Today I stopped at a sushi restaurant in the middle of New York off highway 84. While inside, I noticed three hotspots: xfinitywifi, optimumwifi, and timewarnerwifi. I have xfinity service, so I connected to it and entered my username/password.... didn't work. Tried again. Didn't work. After a while, I began to question if the page was a phishing site and the hotspot a fake (the URL was legit, but it'd be pretty easy to spoof that with DNS spoofing).

In any event, the IP addresses (I tried twice) were 74.88.115.x and 74.88.112.x, which are valid Comcast IP addresses, but that's not to say someone didn't have a hotspot setup with that ssid on their Comcast connection, which would essentially accomplish the same thing... unless I'm missing something?

To be honest, I wouldn't even consider entering my account information at some random hotspot. That's just not wise man.

That's not a bad idea. I will have to try that. lol

What I always wanted to do was to set up a hotspot where the landing page was a Goatse or similar shock site.

Whenever I open my wifi, within minutes there are 10 or so people connecting - this would teach those assholes who's boss.
