I'm assuming you mean when Windows is running, when you insert the CD that you created, it brings up install menu. This is correct, because its performing the autorun specified in the autorun.ini file.
To extract the boot image off the original disc, download and follow the instructions here:

Do you know of another boot image extractor? BBIE does not run on my laptop which is using XP 2005 windows center edition. I've extracted it and placed it on the desktop. When I double click on the icon it displays a small DOS box for a half second and then disappears.

The bios says in the scan devices.... no devices!
