FaD - We need your help!

Find-A-Drug (FaD) is a project searching for inhibitors to cancer, SARS, HIV, MS and a number of other maladies. While small, the project has shown positive, laboratory verified results. One of our members, mLoot, was just credited with discovery of a molecule with anti-cancer properties.

While the TeAm has received contributions of more than a hundred members, only about 21 are currently active. Even so, we are the 10th highest producing TeAm and are at 17th in the standings and about to move up to 16th in a few days.

Even as we move up in rank, there are a few teams below us in the standings that are set to plow right through us. Most notably, the DPC has increased their production recently and now out-produces us 4 to 1.

Any help we can get from the TeAm would make a BIG difference. Our 'stats-meister', Ross Whitehead, has been working hard to produce regular updates so that we can see how we're doing. We've recently upgraded to a new client, which has been very stable. The client is available for Windows and Linux, supports multiple processors and is very un-intrusive.

Please come over and check us out!

If the dang SETI1 project would fookin end I could throw a lot more power at this! I only have one PC dedicated to FaD ATM.

We definately could use some help!

very nicely put!
As grendel said, this is a small project, so unlike something big like SETI where you just make up a tiny unnoticable fraction of the overall production, with FaD, just a few active members can make a big difference for a team!

I am not that familiar w/ D2OL but from what I can gather D2OL only deals w/ infectious diseases which FaD does cover but in addition FaD also includes Cancer and Multiple Sclerosis in their molecule searches.

Here is a list of projects which you have the ability to "work on" when you install the FaD cleint:
Cancer
HIV
Pesticides and Herbicides
Proteome
Bioterrorism Antidotes
Resporatory Diseases
Multiple Sclerosis
Malaria
Commercial

PS: Nice bike pics! I drive a Kawasaki Mean Streak w/ a few mods😉

Just to add to Ross's post...

In addition to a wide selection of projects, the most important facet of FaD to me is that we are getting laboratory verified RESULTS! Having had to go through various cancers with several close family members, I want to devote my resources to something that has the potential to help, but also something that has a reasonable degree of success. For me, FaD fits that bill nicely.

My secondary goal is to help out the TeAm as best I can. I've contributed to SETI as well as UD, but I never felt as integral to the program as I do with FaD. It can't be said enough that FaD is a small program (with big results 🙂). Just a few converts can make a HUGE difference to the TeAm and to the program in general.

Hey, I just added a dual-opteron to the mix, so that should help a little.

Outstanding!

Let me know what the performance numbers are like. I'm looking for something to replace a P3/Cu VP6 that's getting a bit long in the tooth.

What team number is Anandtech's, I'm configuring the software now, and can't seem to find it on the site.

Woot!!!!!!!!! 2 Million Points!!!! Temps are climbing here, so I may have to scale back, but for now full steam ahead!

BCinSC, Congrats on 2M!

Grendel, Did you ever get FaD working from a floppy? I know BCinSC had expressed interested as it would help his heat and energy problems.

Welcome aboard furie27 and Redviffler!:beer:🙂

Congrats BC! 😀

I'm still working on totally diskless crunchers. It's a busy time of year for me (teacher), so after the semester is over I hope to devote more time to the project.

A new Malaria query is running right now, so if anyone is really interested in Malaria research, join up!

I just noticed our weekly total and was trying to figure out who should be congratulated but could not single out a person.

I also could not find the molecule I uploaded and had been crunching for 10 days or something like that 🙁

On another very positive note... we should clinch 16'th place in the next stats update or two!

Woot!

Congrats furie27. Just don't get disappointed when you get one that takes a week to finish 🙂 It'll be worth a LOT of points.

Ross, check out our production for today. I'm trying to figure where it came from, but more to the point I'm glad it's there! 😀

More Power!!
