I don't think it is funny when it is OBVIOUS the dog is in/will be in a lot of pain. Laugh all you want dude.

But he looks like a tough dog so I'm sure he will be back to 100% as long as he sees a professional to get those quills out.

At the moment your 'humor' is rubbing me the wrong way, but to each his own....
As far as how my dog reacted to pulling them out.... pretty damn painful, and that would be an understatement... she has one that went in her front lip, and is sticking out on the bridge of her nose... not going to mess with that one.... She still has about a half dozen in her, and I am taking her to the vet in the morning and they can get the rest...
The sounds that came out of her when I pulled some of the deep ones out was enough to break my heart... but she seems to be pretty comfortable for now...

Did you snip the ends of the quills off before pulling them out? IIRC, they're hollow, and the hardness is due to them being filled with air. They become much more pliable once they're depressurized.

One of my sisters is a vet, and my mother is married to a vet. My mother always has had dogs, and most dogs try to attack a porcupine once in their lives. Most learn not to pretty quickly.
The dog will be fine with some treatment, you just have to hope she doesn't try to take revenge later on.
Oh, and it's not as bad as a dog who is allergic to bees and tries to kill every single one she meets. She has been stung in the mouth and nose countless times, and each time she requires medicine to reduce swelling and pain.

Shrug, the dog will be fine. It's like a kid who finds out for the first time that walking into a door hurts. It sucks for them, but they'll learn from the experience.

BTW, huesmann, the vet doesn't do anything special to get them out other than to use anestetics so the dog doesn't feel all of the pain.
Did you take the dog to the Vet yet? Even if you get all the quills out you may have missed one and that would not be good. Best to just go for a checkup at least.

In my experience, you'd be surprised how dedicated a dog can be. I remember as a kid my step father's doberman sliced it's nose open pretty bad on a camping trip. The dog sat patiently while my father stitched up his nose using a modified fishing hook and some fishing line. I would remove the barbs myself, one at a time and put some Neosporin on them and the pup should be okay.
