Just had my first experience in the rain. Race was kuala lumpur, only a 35% chance of rain.

On the second to last lap (shortened race.. Im not good enough to run the full length) it started to rain. Managed to squeeze out two clean laps on prime tires. Damn the rain looks cool though

Weather system is amazing and brutal. Oh.. I cannot imagine doing a full race, I might try but I don't want to get pissed of when I lose control of my car.. I might break my controller, monitor or something else. 50+ laps in one go, following perfect race line, driving to the max needs a lot of concentration. This game made me respect F1 drivers even more.

I love how progressive your car feels as the race continues. As was stated right after leaving the pits you can feel the cold tires. One thing I found really cool was you cannot really run pedal to the metal on straightaways the whole race. My engine overheated from going too fast for too long and your braking changes as races progress. Overall it feels more like I'm adapting as I go along rather then other games where its just don't screw up for 10 laps it feels more involved.

ok, this game is pissing me off now.

it installed another sound driver - Rapture3D - complete with it's own speaker config panel. it would have been nice to have been informed of this . i found it by searching for "rapture" on my pc after reading the "manual".



Rapture3D is not accepting any config other than stereo, despite 5.1 being selected in windows and my soundcard controls. the "Software" setting in game does not seem to activate EAX 3, so no love there either.

i'm using a soundcard with dolby digital live and dts interactive, plugged into a receiver with an optical cable. this setup has worked flawlessly for years, with every 3D game i've thrown at it. at this point, i can only blame shitty programming. :thumbsdown:

Go into the game options and switch it to hardware, then uninstall rapture3d. I havnt tried that as I don't have an Xfi card.

i've looked at some of the problems other players are having with the game, and content to leave well enough alone. thank tho

Dammit, broke down and ordered the G27 for $248 tonight, got impatient, should have got it earlier when it was way cheaper. Ah well, plenty of overtime at work to make up for it, though I bet it's down to $200 next week.

Looking forward to some F1 action, sounds like a badass sim from the posts.

G27 is the last piece of my racing setup. Last week got a Samsung PN58C7000 and Playseat Evolution with shifter adapter.

I was tempted to buy a G27, but i decided to save up and get some real wheels/tires for my car.

I have not managed to do a race yet but I have done practice and qualifying for Bahrain so far in my career. I play with all assists off and I am really enjoying. You can really tell the difference between a light and heavy car and the tyres make a huge difference too. I improved by about 10 seconds going from primes on a heavy car to options on light car. It really feels like a boat when it has a full tank of fuel.

The xbox pad is pretty good, I have not had any glitches with sound or with any sort of controller lag so I am pretty lucky I guess. Looking forward to doing the full race tomorrow, as someone else said it takes a lot of concentration and I just have not had the free time available but I am looking forward to albert park as that is one of my favourite tracks.

Is it really that big of a deal?
Yes, there are bugs.
Yes, they OFFICIALLY confirmed the timing bugs, and said there should be a patch to fix it.

Its still a damn fun game if you ask me

Well sucks about the AI, but I would rather have a good RACE than have realistic times and average racing.

Well I got to play about 2hrs of the game. No SP yet, just a bit of practice and some MP.

I have to say the game is awesome, the physics could be better, its almost impossible to know when the rear will break lose, no "feeling" in the handling. The menu is also confusing, but clean.

Apart from that the game is great. The driving is fun, the graphics are top notch. It was indeed worth the wait.

I wouldve like to adjust steering sensitivity and deadzone for my 360 controller.

I have been playing for a few days and I love it. I'm running a little lower then my normal 1080p (1680) because I want to keep my FPS above 30 and high to Ultra settings. Win 7 x64 -Q6600 @ 3.0ghz -4GB - HD 4870 - Asus P5Q Pro onboard audio - Logitech Rumblepad 2 wireless. Dual monitors is slowing me down a lot.

Overall this game feels like a really nice Sim. I'm no expert. I haven't played much racing sims outside of Gran Turismo series (and a little N4S Shift) but I like Dirt 2 and was really eager to see what they would do with an F1 license. Dirt 2 is amazing. It is an incredible blend of arcade and sim combined with well coded (IMO) graphics and resource usage. F1 2010 is very much as I expected. Polished, fast, fun, and good balance of Sim/Arcade but more on the sim side. The difficulty can be very impressive though for a game. On full racing sim mode with 100% laps and you will witness a fraction of the concentration, determination, and precision of what the real drivers have to face.

Some of you were complaining about lack of feel and certain effects, I noticed if you turn off all the aids and play on the hardest settings, you get a lot more feel and response to everything. Even the crash/damage dynamics are better. The tyre wear is also very good as is the engine temp and response. Those aspects are pretty good IMO for what is still a fun racing game. The graphics look really good on ultra settings but it loses a lot at high and lower. Also you really have to maintain well over 30 FPS as this game is very fast and tight. You get a slight stutter or drop in frame rate and you can expect to miss your racing line or break a little too late.

I am currently on the 5th track I think, Spain - Circuit de Calalunya. I love this track but I am hating it right now because it's beating the crap out of me right now. I'm not sure what it is but the AI drives really fast on this course and it's hard to make up time. A bad pit or 1 mistake on a turn can really cost you the race. I have pole and first place in the previous races but this one I have replayed 5-6 times already and keep losing. Twice I went in to the pit in the lead and lost it to a 13-15s pit because I couldn't get out. Making up 6-9 seconds in Spain and passing is really hard for me. Often ends up in a restart because I hate setting for anything but first.

I'm playing on Hard settings, I keep the racing lines up on the curves though. It's just too time consuming memorizing all these tracks right now. I don't want to spend hours studying each courses racing lines combined with speed and grip thresholds for each turn based on conditions and tyres. I find the Logitech Rumblepad could be better supported. I really need better analog thresholds. It's really hard to be precise. It's hard not to be 100% in a direction or throttle with such a steep curve. I feel like 80% of the acceleration curve is only in 20% of the usable movement range of the stick, if that makes sense. I'd love to try this with a steering wheel but I don't have the space.

I'm having a lot of fun with this so far. I haven't played much yet but it's been worth it. I'd even consider getting a racing wheel for this game. The only thing this game is missing is the Nurburgring just for kicks

Had this purchased for me as a gift by the GF because she watches the races with me (heart), but wow I'm realizing that I'm going to have to invest on a proper controller wheel if I'm going to properly enjoy this game. It has also given me even more respect for F1 drivers after playing it for a bit.
