A lot of cable companies have local monopolies. Voting with your wallet would mean going without cable service entirely. And you'd better believe that the cable companies know this.


When I got my cable taken care of in my apartment, I think the guy was about 2hrs late, and I was scheduled for a time window of 4-6pm.
But he was actually here on the right day.

You just made something up that was totally believable for a cable company to do these days, and he asked where you found the info.

I find I can just do the job faster and with less irritation if I just do it myself.

Heck, I even fixed the cable that I cut when I was digging in my garden.

 
Comcast took over 2 months to fix a line that a squirrel ate away. They kept on doing useless things, telling me to restart, giving me about 5 new modems (and cable boxes), etc. Eventually they looked at the line in the house next to mine that leads to me, and it had barely 1 stand of wire left. I managed to get some money out of it though.
