i didn't care to read the fine print, nor was i planning to do a chargeback. the amount is something like $10-20 which isn't going to break me. just venting here.

it's more a matter of principal, and TM is scum that has no understand of the the term "customer service".[/quote]

that was more directed toward all the people squealing for a chargeback.

you will not dispute or otherwise seek a ?chargeback? from the company whose credit card you used to purchase tickets from the Site. Should you do so, your tickets may be cancelled, and Ticketmaster may, in its sole discretion, refuse to honor pending and future ticket purchases made from all credit card accounts or online accounts on which such chargebacks have been made, and may prohibit all persons in whose name the credit card accounts exist and any person who accesses any associated online account or credit card or who otherwise breaches this provision from using the Site.

Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. OP, do a chargeback.

Do a chargeback anyways. Who cares if they block you from using their over-expensive service?

Did you buy with a credit card? Try doing a charge back.

And yeah, lodge a complaint with the BBB.

Good luck with that. I saw Wicked in Chicago - seats that were supposed to have an unobstructed view according to TM... they had an obstructed view of the top 1/3 of the stage, so when the actors and actresses were on a little bridge over the stage, you couldn't see their heads. I called TM to complain afterwards, and they were like "we can't do anything, blah blah blah, you should have talked to the theatre." But the theatre was sold out anyway. They would have told me that there was nothing to be done or that I have to talk with the ticket provider. Next call went to Amex, but after 6 weeks, they sided with TM based on the terms of service from the sale of the tickets  I didn't even want all my money back, just some of it. I could have bought tickets without an obstructed view for much less.

And what is worse, there are no real alternatives and some venues you can only buy your tickets from them.

I simply don't go to those venues anymore. I've been fucked by TM enough that I'll only go places where I can purchase tickets directly from them.

Some of the best shows I've ever been to have been at non-TM venues. There is another website that sells event tickets, TicketWeb. If you get it mailed to your house, there's no delivery fee, and the standard "convience" fee is only about $3-5. Unfortunately, they only sell tickets to smaller and lesser-known events.

Ticketweb is a TM subsidiary. Lower fees and such, but you're still buying from TM. And a lot of events are not offered in multiple ticket-buying places.

Occasionally, events are canceled or postponed by the promoter, team, band or venue. Should this occur, we will attempt to contact you to inform you of refund or exchange procedures for that event. For exact instructions on any canceled or postponed event, please check the event information online or contact us. If you purchase a ticket through Ticketmaster.com, Ticketmaster.ca, Ticketmaster's Phone Centers or TicketExchange, and a refund is issued, then Ticketmaster will most likely give you a refund by issuing a credit to the credit card that you used to purchase that ticket unless that ticket was subsequently sold using TicketExchange, and the holder of the ticket will not be able to physically present it for a refund. If a ticket is purchased through a Ticketmaster Retail Location and a refund is to be issued for it, then you may only be able to receive the refund by presenting the ticket yourself to the Retail Location where it was purchased.

Ticketmaster typically only offers refunds and/or exchanges based on the promoter's, team's or venue's instructions. Ticketmaster is not obligated to issue a refund except to the extent that the promoter, team or venue responsible for bringing you the event (1) instructs us to issue a refund, and (2) provides us with the ticket funds necessary to issue refunds. In order to receive a refund or an exchange that may be offered, you will have to comply with the promoter's, team's or venue's instructions or deadlines, which, along with the decision about whether or not to issue a refund or an exchange, may be at the promoter's, team's or venue's discretion.

If Ticketmaster issues you a refund for a ticket, it will issue a refund of the ticket's face value paid (or, if a discounted ticket, then instead the discounted ticket price paid), the facility fee and the convenience charge, unless the ticket was sold through TicketExchange in which case Ticketmaster will issue a refund of the ticket price you paid on TicketExchange and the convenience charge (if any) you paid on TicketExchange. If the event was scheduled to occur in Canada, then the order processing fee will also be refunded (but not for events that were scheduled to occur in the United States). In no event will delivery prices or any other fees or amounts be refunded. If a refund is issued, it will be issued using the same method of payment that was used to purchase the tickets. If a credit card was used to make the refunded purchase, then only that actual credit card will receive the credit for the refund. Ticketmaster will not be liable for travel or any other expenses that you or anyone else incurs in connection with a cancelled or postponed event.

If an event is canceled, please Contact us for information on receiving a refund. If the event was moved or rescheduled, the venue or promoter may set refund limitations. Contact us for exact instructions.

Please make sure to include/provide your account number so we can expedite your refund if applicable.

Refunds and Exchanges
Before purchasing tickets, carefully review your event and seat selection. Policies set forth by our clients, including venues, teams and theaters, generally prohibit Ticketmaster from issuing exchanges or refunds after a ticket has been purchased or for lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed tickets. You agree that you will not attempt to evade, avoid, or circumvent those prohibitions in any manner with regard to tickets you purchased. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, you will not contact Ticketmaster to seek a refund or exchange from Ticketmaster when Ticketmaster is prohibited from providing one by its clients, and you will not dispute or otherwise seek a ?chargeback? from the company whose credit card you used to purchase tickets from the Site.

SCUMS! why not just say "we will not refund jack shit and you cannot hire a lawyer to sue us."

Yep. Some guy wrote a rant about TM a while ago... he said something to the effect of, "How is it convenient for me to print out my tickets on MY printer using MY ink and MY paper?". I wish I could find the link...

Bah. Shit happens.

The problem is, there are a lot of venues that either don't have box offices, or are too far away for people to travel to buy the tickets. In those cases, the only option is to let TM rape you.

Bah. Shit happens.

TicketMaster's still involved, with exactly the same rules. I've been buying concert tickets since 85, and TicketMaster's been a pain in my ass the whole time.

Yep, we all have hours to just piss away and go totally out of our way to go to a venue and buy tickets in person

(Edit:

Obviously, sometimes the venues are close enough to people and there is a box office available to buy tickets without all the BS fees.)

How about a phone call? Vendors sell tickets through ticketmaster no? Why not cut out the middle men?

If you don't want to piss away your precious time, don't bitch about Ticketmaster then. Better yet, make your own e-com ticket vendor since you seem to have the system down pat.

You can't. TicketMaster has an exclusive contract. If there was competition we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Doesn't that specifically say though they'll refund the convenience fee, in which the OP has said that they are refusing to do for him?

Until there is competition on a per venue basis, be prepared to continue application of the anal lube. Woohoo for legal monopolies....

Yeah, I love the bullshit convenience charge and facility charge. You have a decently priced ticket and fork on the extra 10-15 dollars of bs and you're paying much more than you expected.

A lot of venues are allowing folks to purchase tickets directly from their web site now days. I always try to go this route first and only use TicketMaster as a last resort.

I was going to do that. But my venue doesn't have an actual website I believe to order tickets. But I guess if I go to the ticket stands I can save convenience charges?

Probably. Most big places have a ticket window that's open even when there is no event happening so you can buy tickets.
